Whilst you're right about most footballers, Adam has said in many interviews that Barnsley are just as much "his team" as Liverpool. He may be a scouser and have grown up a Liverpool fan, but I genuinely get the impression that he loves BFC just as much as any of us.

Players are different. I know that while John Hendrie treasures his time at Oakwell and always likes to see us do well, he supports Bradford and Celtic, no questions asked. Bruce Dyer however really does seem to have adopted us as his team, despite being a Londoner.

Moncur looks decent in spells when he comes on, he has to produce it for 90 minutes though to get in team

I agree with every word you say & I always believe we are a better side when Hammil plays , even if he is not at his best he always commands respect from the opposition who regularly double up on him which frees up space for others

I'm no fan of Hemmsy, in fact I agree with most in here that he gets off on the animosity he caused. But I kind of agree that I would like to see how Moncur does in the "No. 10" role behind a forward.

We have tried him in a deeper 2 and three man midfield and for some reason he either doesn't like playing there or is not capable of playing there.

So before chalking **** on him and shipping him out, I think it's worth giving him a bit of a run behind the forwards....

AAAhh the usual - all opinions are allowed ( including from the always reliable "several friends of mine" ) unless they are from the Hemsworth One ! Let him have his say - he makes a fair point - although I think Moncur isn't very good.

The knower of everything Lord ******** of Hemsworth misses this point clearly.

Hammill commands the respect of the opposition, yes maybe on reputation, but he does. He is regularly double marked - which is why Yiadom and McCarthy (perhaps Cavare yesterday?), are able to find space, and also why there has often been space more centrally for midfield players to drift into. They haven’t been aware or good enough to do that often enough unfortunately, but it is often there.

Hammill has had a relatively poor end product at times this season. But he’s got himself or the full backs into promising crossing positions more than anyone else. There hasn’t always been a lot to cross to, but still.

Barnes is a very talented player. But there is a reason he’d been in and out of the side; he doesn’t have the defensive awareness or the same workrate as Hammill or Isgrove. Playing in front of Fryers, who delivers a decent left foot set piece but looks poor to my eye defensively and needs to work on this, we need the awareness and workrate. He is a loss, but he’s gone, and keeping Isgrove fit (and getting hedges back) might cover that loss.

Wide positions and the defence seems decently covered, we have an abundance of central midfield players, not all up to standard, but they may flourish when in a more balanced team. We need a focal point up front, and a proper leader which may mean a centre back/midfielder.

What physical advantages? How many players lose that physical advantage at 29? Players start reaching their physical peaks a lot later than they used to - That's down to modern training and diet etc- not seen any evidence Hammill is slowing down.

May be moncurs best position in behind the striker , he doesn’t like battling in the midfield and does have pace / qualities when he drives forward with the ball

Yeah but I don't like the idea of anyone talking for the "entire BBS" - do you?

Nobody asked me for my opinion before SuperTyke gave it for me.

What else is ST going to do in my name?

Moncour came to oakwell as the saviour of the club.....I think it was a classic case of not trying before you buying lol almost immediately went on loan they didn't rate him either and now he's back here and in my opinion the most overrated player I have seen in a red shirt for a long time

I think you'll find I've let him have his say... in fact, Hemmsy's threads are moderated, and I was the person who approved this one, so I definitely let him have his say.
I rarely reply to his threads these days.

    But
If Townsend is so poor, why have we still got him?

He’s a cheap option for someone who barring injury we have no intention of playing.

I agree, and we're probably not alone in doing this.

Bristol City recently lost their keeper through suspension but have another quality keeper to step in in the form of Luke Steele, who could probably be first choice somewhere else, but it will be costing them a lot more in wages than we would be willing to pay.
