If anything he got off lightly with the amount of stick he got. He was never fit enough for a full 90 minutes over however many years he was here which is criminal and only his fault. He was a tubby little waster who pinched a wage. It's much worse to see someone who has the talent but not the application rather than the other way round. All his good performances (and there were some) were in games we would have won anyway where he had the chance to pointlessly drag his foot over the top of the ball look good. Owt approaching a struggle and his lord and saviour Jesus Christ affected the match more than he did. He's far more deserving of stick than someone like Ritzmaier who at least put the effort in.
You can add that Peterborough away game to that list. But I'm struggling to think of any more. He wasn't anywhere near good enough on a regular basis for us.
He did but Jesus h Christ if that’s the benchmark of a Barnsley career then we might as well just pack in now.
Wasn't there a close connection with Elliot lee that convinced him to join tarn. Big mates. Followed each other to Luton. Played together at Colchester and West ham. Prior to us. Think they were both devout Christians. Moncur certainly was/is, Maybe helped each other settle. Both dads played together at west ham. At the back end of careers.
In fairness McCann got a tune from Wilks and seems a good person manager so he may be able to solve the riddle of gorgeous George. The talent is there. If McCann can work on the application has he has with Wilks could work well for them.
Could be something in this, but Stendel managed to turn round lots of strugglers, but Moncur remained a show pony.
I think most fans are in consensus that he obviously has talent but rarely applies it for long enough and when it matters. The main times he seems to try his hardest is against former clubs. Pity really.
