They did realise his potential. They employed him as a youth coach. If he'd moved to City to manage their first team your argument might hold water.

Dont get why people so devestated by letting harsley go.. didnt he get our youths relegated? I thought all our younger sides were doing crap so clearly cant be that excellent if our u23s comes bottom yet some suggest he shouldve got job. From the sheff wednesday game, all i saw was another Paul Heckingbottom sort of lineup and any fire u mightve seen in the players... well it was a bloody derby match so you’d expect it no matter who was in charge!

For all anyone knows, he might be getting paid more at city just to clean the players boots daily. Either way, i dont care.

His coaching staff have coached in regional German leagues way down the pyramid system of divisions.

Yeah, and Daniel Farke at Norwich had only coached Dortmund’s reserves and a team in the fifth level of the German game before getting the Norwich job.

They’ve been training coaches with their own DFB coaching badges since 1947 in Germany which is at least 180 modules they have to learn and pass exams on split over 3 badges before they can train and be paid in German football, that’s not to mention they’ve all probably done the UEFA training courses as well so it’s not as though we’ve hired three dipsticks who once won the Champions league on the PlayStation and coached a under 16s village team in Lower Saxony for 4 years who fancied a go at a higher level.

If our players are open minded, willing to learn and develop and better themselves as professionals we could be on to a real winner given the clips we’ve seen on Daniels Hannover side and the press releases we’ve had.

Stendel says in his interview on official site that he and Winkler did their UEFA Pro together.

Point is if Harsley works his way through the ranks at City for a few years he could be a future candidate for us, or a whole bunch of clubs.
We'll never know how he would have done if he had got the job over Morais. My feeling is he wouldn't have done any worse.
He clearly realised he'd gone as far as he could with us & decided to join the top academy in the country.

I wish him well. I think it's just a career move that any of us might have taken.
It's understandable DS wants his own team in too.

Think you hit nail on head there sir in that he got an opportunity to join a top academy.
Exactly same if Hecky had left us to take over at Man City, we’d have congratulated and wished him luck.

Pretty disappointed about this. Personally, I'd far rather put Moncur on the first flight to Austria. I believe Ryanair fly to Saltzburg from Leeds on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. If we get a wriggle on we might be able to send him today.

George has a new role at the club next season. He's doing front of house at George & Georgio's Olive Emporium in the Lower East Stand.

I’m willing to see what Moncur can do under the new coach. He never was and never will be a deep lying centre mid. He was a top quality number 10 in League 1. If he’s willing to work hard (big question) for the new guy he’ll be an asset. As I’m sure Knasmullner / Mallan would (could) have been if they stuck around.

We don’t need all of the “number 10’s” we have so a couple were always needed to be moved on. If the blokes heart isn’t in it then so be it. Rather out than in.

Clearly has the talent, so I can't really see why he's suddenly going to start using it on a consistent basis, two years into his three year contract. Obviously I'd love to be proved wrong. But the fact that he's only got a year left makes me think it would be better to cash in now (or at least cut our losses) , and build the team around players who are likely to be here for another two or three seasons.

If Stendel gets rid of Moncur early doors then he'll do for me. Poor player, never performed other than in the relegation zone with Colchester at this level, struggled to do anything with his opportunity at an above average team, Peterborough, despite bairning for a move there after running to Daddy.

I'm hopeful that DS's use of the word 'superfit' has already got the rotund, breathless, god-botherer waddling for the hills.

I still hold out hope for Moncur. Technically he's a very good player but there are obvious doubts over his fitness. If Stendel does play a 451 then you would think one out of Mallan, Moncur, Mowatt or Mcgeehan should be effective playing just behind the striker. Would be nice to see one of our many no. 10s actually playing in that position as opposed to being asked to be part of a midfield 2 or 3.

Apart from Hammill he's the only player we have who can run at defenders and scare them consistently. Not sure where that fits in the race new world like.

He may well be, but he has to remember to take the ball with him!
