Don't particularly want to jump on the bandwagon, but both their goals look like poor goalkeeping to me.

I thought the second was a fluke Not a lot the keeper could have done ,unless he was 8ft tall.

First no one closes him down, second is luck.

What you have to do is think what your reaction would have been if we had scored those goals. The first would have been greeted as a good strike and the second as lucky but we'll take it.

How many goals have we conceded this season through simply not closing down quick enough. Basic stuff.

Not sure that a keeper at this level should be beaten low down to his right from 20 yards, and with a clear sight of the ball.

Why was he stood by the front post ?

First one George Moncur gave him too much space to shoot.

Second one, Adam Davies will be very disappointed with it, even though it was a fluke.

We could/should have been one down 1st half when McCarthy fails to stop or even get close to the man putting the cross in. Like you say basic stuff and we aren't learning from our mistakes. Say the players are **** or whatever but at confrance level they know to at least try to stop the cross or close the man down.

Agreed. There's a fault in every goal if you're Alan Hansen but sometimes you just have to say it's a good goal.

1st goal illustrates whats been pretty obvious for a while, lazy Moncur doesnt close down the player, stood off him, not sure why Hecky perseveres.

2nd, keeper should never let that beat him, not shatp enough. Lack of competition for his place? Could be.

well as others have said in this thread, their first was bad defending on our part and the second was a cross that fluked into the goal. Our goal was well taken, but from the little bits of high lights in th video itseems as if we had our chances too to get something from the game, also it showed our keeper make some great saves. The new owners said that they wanted to consolidate our championship status this season but they were not going to do anything crazy. Well unless they bring us in a leader and ball winner in midfield a striker with more potency and another center back then they will indeed struggle to maintain out Championship status. I also think we need to bring in players of experience and guile the areas I have mentioned, our players IMHO are not poor players they are largely naïve and inexperienced. If Hecky is to be kept on then he surely realises this and will advise them so. I hope the new regime can see this and will act accordingly

That's how I saw it. Moncur should have stayed closer to the man he was marking and Davies had plenty of time to deal with the fluke cross, even if he just tipped it over. Two more sloppy goals conceded from individual mistakes.

The second goal is both a mistake and a fluke. Davies misjudges the flight of the ball, otherwise he would have been backpedalling for it.

Can't see how the second is Davies' fault at all. It's a complete fluke cross. If you look at the trajectory of the ball, no way is that the keeper's fault; it loops over and lands right in the inside netting.

The second goal was a complete fluke! How anyone can blame Davies for that is beyond me.

First was just a good goal struck with power - should have been closed down. I have noticed that we are failing to close down a lot more this year than last.

Anyway...on to Boxing Day - need 6 points from these next 2 games

There is absolutely no way he should have been stood at the near post, which he was, terrible position to take. I realise it was a fluke, but if the player had actually crossed it to the forward, Davis would still be in the wrong position to get the cross. Too close to the front post, no chance to get to ANY cross beyond halfway across the goals.

I’ve honestly never known a team concede so many bad goals whether it be through a mistake or a fluke, we just seem to get punished week in week out.
