When was the last time socialists were in power? Agree about the programme on Obama. Fascinating. The behaviour of the House or Representatives was reprehensible
Obama has been in power for the last 8 years and has left a situation where the majority of the US public are willing to gamble on a president who trades in sexist and racist discourse to get things to change. This should be more an indication of the ineffectiveness of Obama's regime in giving ordinary Americans what they want and need - Trump hasn't done anything yet.
He'd be at the most centre left in this country (having read Dreams From My Father and The Audacity of Hope). Don't forget America sees anything short of austerity as creeping Communism.
Trump will be crapping himself now. His ego trip has gone too far, he knows he can't keep most of the promises he made and there's probably a CIA bullet with his name on it.
Like it or loath it centre left is the only realistic chance of any socialist party governing any western country . Dont forget that nearly 70% of Americans have never left their own shores . It seems to me that people in general from many countries are protest voting or at least standing up and saying we are fed up with the same old **** ! We want a change .
Certainly not socialist! http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/wik...our_party_still_committed_to_social_democracy
I can't disagree. One of Clinton's mistakes was her regular use of the slogan " when the middle class does well America does well ".... I wonder if more than a few people wondered if that's where here priorities lay rather than the working class ?
The book released about Obama being the worse ever president sounds a good read as the author used over 1000 bits of evidence to back up his 200 claims..... https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/21528...-years-syria-iraq-anger-ignored-middle-class/ The article about Brexit on The Sun website also brings up how him being president could be good for us as he was the only senior American politician that said Brexit wouldn't change our relationship with USA unlike Obama with his back of the queue scare tactics.
I think most of the Sanders people who didnt vote for Hillary voted for one of the fringe candidates which helped Trump win.
Trump is far less establishment than Clinton. I disagree with Trump on everything, and find him to be a deeply unpleasant individual, but as a leftist I couldn't have brought myself to vote for Hillary.
I often feel like a political pariah on here but I'm sensing that people are putting political views to one side and reflecting on this election and other recent events from a neutral standpoint. On the rare occasion that we discuss the EU referendum on here it is very clear that party politics did not influence how people voted. I find myself on the same side as people I often disagree with politically. I see a lot of parallels between Brexit and what has happened in America.
