I live in America (North Carolina), hate to say that this state voted for him. This morning just had an odd feeling about it, a lot of disbelief all around...even amongst Trump supporters. To be perfectly honest, they've put themselves in this position. Ain't got anyone else to blame but themselves... That said, the voting system is an absolute travesty. She wins the majority of votes, yet he wins electoral college blah blah blah. It's madness. You can say he won all you like but many keep saying, yeah but more voted for her. I get the sense that the whole system is flawed and even whilst watching the votes come in last night, the tv chaps were just saying that the system is silly. Another thing is the voting. You don't just vote for Clinton or Trump. There was the 3rd libertarian option also in Johnson and then the 4th game changing option, you vote for whoever the chuff you want to vote for. Yep, Bernie Sanders who dropped out of the race after the primaries and was NO LONGER campaigning to be the president, got votes...Even Harambe allegedly got over 11,000 votes. That's not to say they were officially counted in the ballot; it is more likely to be placed as a no vote, especially considering over 11,000 Americans voted for a dead gorilla for their next president. It really is laughable. And then, there's HIM... Trump himself...I haven't got many (if any at all) positives to say about him. He's a disgusting excuse of a human being that has spouted things from his mouth during the campaign that you'd expect to see in the cotton fields during slavery. It's like America is going all Benjamin Button on us. That said, I can resonate some of the points he makes. Minimum wage, bringing jobs back to crime ridden cities and states etc by enabling America to become the generator of goods again....I can see the appeal with that, and if someone like Barack (with a squeaky clean history and someone who carries himself so well) were to be the republican pushing for it, I can understand the numbers of votes... However, for so many adults to vote and enable a man with zero regard for others; a misogynistic pig (suggesting grabbing women by the pu$$y was acceptable because he's rich ***allegedly), a man who claimed Mexicans were rapists, stated LGBT communities and same sex marriages are an issue and told how we need to wipe out the families of muslims because they pose a threat. How can people support this man...regardless of his power to the people claims. I should also add, he has both a fraud trial and rape of a 15 year old girl trial hanging over his head in the next month. WTF?! Anyway...I'll be back in England in 2 years
It's interesting to hear that you would like the side with the most votes to have won in a fair way. As you know, that happened here with brexit and the remainers will not accept that this was fair. Funny old world isn't it?
There both as Establishment as each other, this was by far the worst Presidential election I've seen in my life time, I wouldn't vote for either candidate because there both terrible, one's abit scummy and underhanded and the other one is alot ascummy and just shouts more
You could also say the same about parliament here. Not that I voted for them but didn't ukip only get 1 seat despite 3 million votes. A party with less votes got more seats. I've slept since....
I accept it was fair - the Leave side got the most votes on the day of the referendum. However, my attitude to a 52-48 win is much the same as Nigel Farage's would have been had the result been reversed - it's not and shouldn't be seen as a final answer to the question of Europe. It certainly isn't a mandate for going as hard and fast as possible - that's a course of action which is expressly against the wishes of 48% of the country, and almost certainly unpalatable to more. It seems to me that people who voted 'Out' sometimes feel like they've got a monopoly on passion when it comes to something like this. I'm passionate about staying in the EU, and - to be honest here - if there's any way of not exiting then I would be more than happy to support it, even against the slim majority of the advisory referendum. However, if we're going to accept that this slim majority is enough to change our situation irreversibly (there is, after all, a reason why constitutional changes of this scale usually require a two-thirds majority) then I personally want to keep as many of the benefits of being in the EU as possible - single market, freedom of movement, whatever. So, yeah. The referendum was fair, the people who voted 'leave' won. But there are hundreds of different ways of leaving the EU, and I want the 'softest' one. I don't think that anybody is being fairly consulted on this matter, and I think that a tiny majority in an advisory referendum is being leveraged unfairly to bring in sweeping changes that more than half of the country are highly likely to be against.
If the Trump & Brexit result makes politicians realise the voters will only put up with their lies & selfishness for so long, then GOOD Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I've read the link, cheers its all very informative . The quotes 'New Labour is committed to socialist policies'. 'still has a commitment to social justice and the welfare state ' . 'Labour Party has not forgotten its social democratic roots' . 'New Labour has followed a social liberal approach' . Seems like a socialist party to me . A good read though thanks again .
A Democrat President has little power when the majority party in the Senate/House of Representatives is Republican.
The Trump and Brexit votes show that voters will only put up with lies & selfishness for so long, unless you lie more and are more selfish than those seen as the elite, then they'll vote for you. I can't remember who did the research, but 70% of everything that Trump said on the campaign trail was a lie or incorrect.
