I doubt that puts you in any minorities.

Though I can mumble through GSTQ and abide with me, I struggle to move my mouth through the Lords Prayer nowadays.

Wee correction here Hooky. I do believe we buggers do like you. I'd say its those in Westminster is who we hate. And your royalty is not ours. Especially when gstq has a verse about slaying the Scots. A bit racist.

I am a royalist and its easy to change from queen to king and here is the second verse
    Thy choicest gifts in store
On her be pleased to pour,
    Long may she reign.
    May she defend our laws,
    And ever give us cause,
To sing with heart and voice,
    God save the Queen.

    last verse
    Lord grant that Marshal Wade
    May by thy mighty aid
    Victory bring.
    May he sedition hush,
    And like a torrent rush,
    Rebellious Scots to crush.
    God save the Queen!

Nothing religious or political, nothing about war, nothing championning royalty. Pink Panther theme for me.

Don’t have to thank me, I’m simply posting my opinion in a thread about ‘our’ National Anthem

Billy Connolly once did a sketch suggesting the Archers theme for a national anthem

I don't mind Lizzie. I think she's done well keeping her family together with all the scandal through the years and when she's no longer here the popularity of the royal family will plummet.

It does seem odd to sing for a fictious man to look out for a woman who's lived 90 plus years of privilege though.

I’d go for The theme tune from the wombles.

    Or Vindaloo.

All You Need Is Love - The Beatles. If a sentiment like that can't bring people together we are really knackered.

It's a chuffin awful anthem for the reasons outlined above.

But what baffles me is, why do they almost always insist on getting in an opera singer to warble an anthem out at sporting events? If I could choose the style of singing that most clashes with the sound of a stadium crowd singing, it's an opera singer. It ruins all national anthems.
