Can I suggest everyone on here makes a note of the volume setting on your TV the next time you watch it. Then in the years to come you can use it as a measure, a bit like JamDrop's 14 year old trousers. My late dad lived on his own for the last few years of his life, and he didn't get out much so he watched a lot of TV. He flatly denied his hearing was deteriorating, as he simply turned the TV volume up to compensate. It was only when he blew the roof off his bungalow that he agreed to be tested.
Haha, love it! It's a good point though, the TV at my parents house growing up used to be so quiet you could barely hear it, which is the way I have mine. Now though, they have it so loud that it physically hurts me to be in the same room as it (although in truth, I don't think it's too different to how people normally have their TVs, I'm just very noise sensitive). My dad has accepted he's going deaf and is getting a hearing aid (he finally got his reading glasses a few years ago) but my mam is in complete denial.
I used to dote on every word my missus said, but these days I don't hear half of it. Is that the same thing...?
My dad has had bad hearing loss for many years. It is horrible, as it is a condition that is largely given little sympathy. He's cut himself off from everyone other than close family.
I bought a telly from curry’s yesterday. Geezer said volume button is broke so it’s only £100. I said for that price I can’t turn it down!
