But who has the bigger influence, Collins or The Spreadsheet?

On the overall club? The man who it is a monstrous lie to suggest he has any involvement.

On match by match shitness? Collins

Data identifies player A,B,C,D etc to the budget and stats Collins then decides which one he wants, but if Collins said I'm playing 433 I want 2 quick wingers then I'm afraid it would be a **** **f

And then you end up with players who are surplus to requirements. Then you have to rebuild again with a new manager who wants to play another formation entirely... Rinse and repeat and spunk money up the wall and have a load on disconuity.

It's much easier to find a system or systems that are interchangeable and recruit managers to fit that, than have someone come in and have to ship out 4 wingers because they're no longer needed and try and replace them with 4 wing backs.

I don't get the hate for the spreadsheet either, I don't think we've signed and sold so many good players. Go back to when we signed some absolute crud based on managerial suggestions. Those were awful times to watch and we've had far fewer duds than we've ever had.

our fans have now adopted the above average team in league one attitude, historically we are a second tier side but that seems a distant memory

You're right. Take Dimitri Cavaré as an example. Two left feet and not one ounce of positional awareness. However, he was an absolute unit and quick as lightning. He was the best RB/RWB in League 1 under Stendel.

This, people are so quick to try blame the "spreadsheet" when in reality it's just signing players using data and the budget we have and the style the head coach wants. 90% of teams use it. Rather that then signing oulare and iseka through agents or Conways pal or wherever they came from.

If collins wanted to play 433 he wouldn’t have been hired.

We sign players to fit a system from top to bottom of the club with the academy also working towards that system. We sign a head coach to also work within that system.

I get all that and have no problem with using data, but when the better players at this level sign for potential promotion rivals due we just keep putting all our eggs in one basket because we have to play 1 system and 1 system only, is that really what's best to get out of this league? And what if quality players aren't available do we sign somebody to fill the position?

Data is used to help recruitment at every successful club of the last decade at least. Suggesting otherwise is just silly.

No it’s not silly it’s just like VAR depends who’s reading the data collected as with var the people who are watching it

Correct. But that's not what you said. You said "Data is a load of Sh@t" - which is a silly thing to say.

What scouting methods do you propose instead? It's not like we copy and paste players ffrom an excel spreadsheet and try to sign the top 5, we do also have a process where we watch the players on the field too

The way we play was got sod all to do with data, in fact if we were to truly follow data, Collins would never been employed in the start! He's done nothing but over perform his team's xg and xpts in his managerial career. And tell data is a load of ***** to Brighton and Brentford. Just coz we've got penny pinchers up top doesn't mean it's wrong. And if you must know, the "spreadsheet" hasn't existed for 3 years. It folded ages ago. It took anyone with an ounce of knowledge 30 mins of research to see this guy was a bad appointment. He has to go, as must the board. Unless we're happy to have Dallas and Watters upfront in league 2 soon

Those will be the same penny pinchers that have put in millions of their own money over the last 2 seasons to keep the club running? Just making sure we're talking about the same people.
