Yes in my opinion. Going for promotion with only two proper strikers is madness and that's just one example
It's not so much a huge disaster, as it being represented as a huge triumph. We lost Potts and Moncur. First team players (yeah lungs permitting) and replaced them with ????? to push for a regular first team place? This January window was a strengthen for promotion push? If we go up it's despite, not because of, our January transfer dealings.
Our weak as piss bench tonight showed how poor January was for strengthening in a month where our squad depth was weakened.
We've had a bad night, a very bad night but we haven't lost and we're still in a good position to finish top two. Even with a thin squad we still usually have enough to compete.
I wouldn't even call it a "very bad night". We've drawn a game. The first time we've dropped any points at home since before Christmas. Some people need to get a grip.
Haven't we won the last three games and aren't we on a 13 game unbeaten run sat in the automatic places? Seems a tad over the top if I may say so to call anything a disaster especially when considering we've improved in terms of form through January. Game of opinions my old man used to say though.
I meant it was a bad night in respect of us just not clicking, a lopsided midfield, poor final ball and sloppy passing. We didn't lose which was a positive but it's certainly not a crisis and we will win more than we lose even when we play like tonight.
We were poor and I can't think any fan would argue that. But we still had chances against a side that from around 30 minutes onwards just lumped it upfield like a rugby game. I was a little confused with our shape tonight because I wanted Brown on the right where he's been effective recently but in truth both McGeehan and Mowatt were never allowed to get us playing so fair credit to Burton for stopping them/us. It's another point on the board and another clean sheet.
I think we have the best two centre forwards in the division, (see the goals per minute stats in another thread, this is proven statistically as well as what we can see, only maja is marginally better in that stat and he’s gone) with all of Bähre, victor, brown and Thiam capable of covering up top. We have Thiam brown green and hedges, plus possibly Bähre, covering wide positions. We have the form centre midfield pairing in McGeehan and Mowatt, Callum styles hasn’t played yet and Kenny Dougall who can’t get in the team but would walk into any other in the league. Probably the two most sought after centre halves in the league, and Adam Jackson who barely gets a sniff. Dani pinillos has looked excellent at left back and Ben Williams behind him. Cavare has improved defensively,is a monster going forward, and covering right back Jordan Williams was back on the bench tonight. Our goalkeeper has I believe the most clean sheets in the division, the team has conceded fewer goals than all but one other side - and they’ve conceded the same number. Jack Walton is now fit and is perfectly fine as a league one number two, he’s probably better than that. We are a division three team. I’m not exactly sure what your expectations of a league one squad are but this long winded response to your question is yes, I think we do. We are unbeaten in 13 league games, are unbeaten at home all season, have risen from seventh to second in the league over the last two or three months and yet we draw one game against a side adept at spoiling tactics, and January was a disaster. Get a grip
Let’s have No More Tears over tonight’s performance - enough is enough... It might not have been Hot Stuff on the pitch. I’ve got a feeling Down Deep Inside we’ll be Back In Love Again with the side come 5pm Saturday. I’ll be listening On The Radio.
