Not gone on swansea pre season tour as he says he is not in the right frame of mind Players who refuse to do what there parent club ask should be fined a months wage
PFA rules state he can only be fined two weeks wages at a time, as far as I know. In my opinion, in occasions like this he should be required to sit a mental health assessment, and should he be passed fit his wages be witheld until he returns to work...
If I refused to work I'd get the sack. That said I suppose Swansea have a lot more to lose than my employer does. Players are becoming bigger than the club. It is a breach of contract though. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
How much of a break did he have over the summer? - I think Iceland had some competitive games, so he could be looking at 3 years without a break from football. He might just need two weeks on a beach to get his head together.
Get your head together. what the f. Is that? They are paid a fortune, so should honour their contracts which should detail what is expected of them.
It doesn't matter how much you are paid. Everyone has a tolerance to mental or physical stress (and whatever you think about it training and playing does have both) and after potentially 3+ years without a break, he is probably not performing at the high levels which he is capable.
Im sure there is absolutley nothing wrong with Sigurdssons head or mental state! He's just trying to push the move through. The Swansea board however, all need their bumps checking turning down £40Million!
Some of the views in this thread are shocking. I know the chances are that he's simply pushing for a move, but there is also a(very, very slim) chance that this is a mental health issue. Saying that someone can't have a mental health issue because they get paid a fortune is the sort of opinions that stop people that DO suffer from them from admitting it and getting help. And I'm someone that has suffered in silence for years before getting help due to way people perceive mental health problems....
Bit of an overreaction. If he had come out and said he has been diagnosed with a mental illness then the comments would be different. The indications are that he has the kite on because he wants to move to Everton. This is the thing with modern players - they want the security of a long term contract but then they don't want to honour it.
You're right, sorry. Its just a subject very close to my heart and it winds me up when mental issue are thought of as a lesser issue than physical issues are(not saying you, just explaining). And I totally agree with the point of players wanting the best of both worlds too as it goes.
It's not that black and white though is it. This thread shows a deep level of misunderstanding with the talks of 'give him a test and see if he passes' 'if he has a diagnosis' etc. The simple fact that he has said his head is not in the right place shows he may be suffering mentally, whether that's via a formal diagnosis or not. Fining him isn't going to help and could in fact make it much worse if he is struggling. If he thinks not going will help him get his head in order then it makes sense to support him and let him try that. I'm not sure how a footballer's sick pay works but I'd say that him not going most likely classifies as him having the time off sick and will be paid accordingly. If it turns out the best thing for him is a fresh start at a new club then fair enough and if they can be £40 million richer from selling him then lucky them as most employers would just have to stump up the sick pay and lump it until either the number of sick days allowed were used up or the employee's contract is terminated after whatever the notice period is. If he has got titty lip on that's a different matter and the club will know that; it's nothing something we can work out based on our own assumptions after reading a headline.
