Went to see my daughter in York. Did a bit of work in her house, a bit of shopping, went for a carvery. Barely registered the Barnsley game. Totally lost interest. Won’t be at Oakwell on Friday as I’m heading down to Wales. Ordinarily, I’d be gutted to miss the game, but I can’t even be bothered to hunt out a pub showing the game. What a difference a few months has made.
I enjoyed the pub before the game, the pub after and the curry house I've just left with my dad. Didn't enjoy the game.
A couple of years ago a day out in hudds i would have been chomping at the bit. Today, couldnt be arsed. Went training. I am now out wi pooch. Friday, i can see me being home wi coco for half 9.
Spent the afternoon at Darlington train station with my autistic son who is currently obsessed with trains. I kept an eye on the score but the disappointment was diluted and tempered by expectation. I have subconsciously shut down my unbridled emotion for BFC as a coping mechanism to numb the anger and disappointment at our current predicament. Love the club, pure contempt for the owners.
Wellington then Briar Rose, steady few then limbs at the game. Really enjoyed the last couple of away days, the football has been almost irrelevant compared to the company and the booze.
Similar with me... as soon as the game finished on the radio I switched it off and couldn't really have cared less. A sad state of affairs. Wonder how they'll try to convince me to renew my s/t next year. They'd better come up with something good or like them I'll be keeping my money in my pocket.
I’m honestly thinking the same. Really enjoying doing other things, why on earth would I invest in something that seems so hopelessly pointless?
It's a sad state of affairs when fans who have been watching for decades, through good times and bad times, are feeling like this.
Yes it is but surely its through thick and thin...... If you want success then surely ya be better off wi man city /liverpool
Don't you think that most of us have stuck with the club through thick and thin over the 40+ years some have been watching? Nobody supports Barnsley demanding success but we do expect some ambition and respect from the owners.
I’ve been going since the early 70s I don’t expect or even dream of ‘success’ but not wanting to compete is a different thing and if that’s the game we are playing then I just CBA.
That’s almost where I am. Not quite there yet but you have to have a hope of things getting better. Patrick Cryne wasn’t perfect by any means but you could see that he wanted to do the best he could with the club. The current ownership don’t give the same impression and that’s a big concern.

Whatever the rights and wrongs of Patrick’s reign he always had half an eye on on field success. I don’t get that feeling from the current lot.
