He'd be crackers to come back here. We would only release him again if we were to get promoted. I fear someone else will snap him up in January.
I fear the ship has sailed... for now. Hopefully when he hangs up his boots there is space for him to coach and influence and be an ambassador for the club he so obviously fell in love with. I hope as a club we can be just as focussed on the team and what components will make it successful short, medium and long term, rather than just acquiring commoditised assets that are to be freely traded for notional profit on a very frequent basis.
The club has reinvigorated itself and is in a great position to push forward both in divisional status and raising the profile of the club. There’s a real feel good factor around the place which for me could only be enhanced with the inclusion of hammill. I think it was a mistake to let him go and would further the club in my eyes if they recognised this and made a move. I’m still hopeful that Izzy and hedges get going but they’re not smashing 50 yarders straight into the top corner.
Why would they sell him to us? Why would we pay for a player who was deemed surplus to requirements in the summer? The majority of fans knew what he would have been capable in league one and were on very vocal... but the owners knew best. I would have Adam back in a heartbeat, at the time, it was a no brainer... But now I think the opportunity has passed.
Imagine him running at tired defences in this league when the game is tight and we're under the cosh a little... what a difference it would make. We currently have next to nothing out wide and an inability to cross the ball and stretch the game is evidently an issue. I don't think he'll return but he'd be a perfect fit. We'll struggle to get anyone as good in January.
A fully fit and focused Adam Hammill would rip through all the opposition defenders I have seen this season a Crazy decision to let him go just stupid Rant over Bring Him back
I wonder if he has gone there for fitness as I'm sure with the start he has had there they would have extended is contract already. Im clutching at straws here that he will come back here for the run in.
Don't know if it's been said on here, but from the highlights on the BBC, Adam won a free kick out wide left and he took it, providing the assist for a headed second goal for St. Mirren.
I’ve never seen a Barnsley team get in so many good positions to have a run at the opposition full backs. I find myself shouting “have a got at him” but we rarely look to take them on this team is programmed to pass and move the only thing we’re missing is somebody who’s initial reaction is to run at someone. Like you said it’s be a perfect fit! I’d love to know what Moores opinion would be, I think if Hammill had’ve been here this season Moore would already be at the 15 mark.
Our current wing options are always injured...or theres thiam who is looks very dangerous but is hot n cold......no brainer for me...get him in.
With Moore and Woodrow up front, a wide player who has the ability to scare a full back into standing off, beat him if he doesn’t, and then cross a decent ball would be ideal. He’s a perfect fit for that role and clearly a perfect fit for the football club. I’d love him back though I suspect that it won’t happen unfortunately. The only circumstances I could see it happening was if they sold a big name or two, say Moore and Pinnock, and needed something to appease the fans.
Great goal, but you can put your house on it being "Davies fault" if someone scored a goal like that against us.
Agree he won't be back but the wider issue is pointing out our policy has robbed us of a good player who is better than what we have purely on his age and re-sale value.
