Hecky was left to do the CEO job until Ganaye's appointment. Ganaye has been in post for 8 months or so, and Hecky's frustration has noticeably grown in that time. The takeover was inevitable, but generated a great deal of uncertainty whilst it was going on.

I didn't refer to any individuals. I said the club needs to look inwardly at everything that happened in that time (some unavoidable, some not) to understand how it managed to disengage a manager with a huge connection to the club in such a short-space of time. If it doesn't then we'll just repeat the process with the next one.

Good observstions there mate....these days although passionate i tend to be a bit more analytical about life in general and our team.
Hecky has neen a good coach....sure he has made errors (hes still learning his trade) but he had had a hell if a lot to contend with....as you say the ceo thing...where he was taking phone calls for admin 10 mins b4 (matchday)a kick off...the way we surrendered all our best players....keeping quiet about the sam morsy fiasco......at least he was passionate in his outbursts...after the sale of Roberts and 2 inept pre season performances....he cared.
I dont and refuse to "hate" anything....i wish him all the best actually....and we as a club move on....but lets just have a second and think did we do enough to support him. Lets not forget the key element to success thus season (having had to replace an entire championship ready team) was time.....time to train and bed the new inexperienced and lower league players into a competitive unit.....guess we will never know the answer now.....but thanks paul.....im sure you gave it your all.

I see we are back to equating football with any other business. It was only 7 days ago that there was disappointment that hobby-esque amounts of money hadn't been pumped into the club.

    Completely disagree with this.

If he doesn't do well and gets the sack (which he absolutely will, given Leeds track record) then he will struggle for another job at this level, or anywhere near it. Let's be honest, the only reason he's not been sacked by us is because he's a local lad and a thoroughly straight talking decent bloke - anyone else would've bitten the bullet several games ago after the woeful run we've been on. It's only in recent games where the fans have finally starting realising that some of his decisions have been baffling, and that maybe, just maybe a change is needed.

I wish him the best of luck.

Theres an argument that PH didn't actually have much of a job to do until we lost our Championship quality, 11 wins in 12 months since then says a lot. He was given a lot of patience, a new bloody contract after 12 months of shite form, shite play and shite-loads of whingeing. Pointless playing the blame game, transfers haven't worked out but lets not suggest that PH has no influence on them at all. I couldn't give a toss about his career but I cant help wondering if he will ever get back to a board, fanbase and town that will support him as to the extent he is used to.

With all the rabid sh*te that's being pumped out on here I thought I'd bump this. Best op on the subject in my opinion.

    I agree with all that.
And I'm well aware that interviews are all about soundbites and platitudes and complimenting your new employers and bigging up the amazing opportunity you've been handed and trying to get everyone at your new club onside.
And I know it's easy to take these snippets he says and run with them and take a skewed view of all that's happened and make 2+2 equal 55 and get the wrong end of the stick and let emotion cloud your judgement and...
I know all this and that's why I still like Danny Wilson, and I still like Lee Johnson, and although I think Sam Winnall is a bit of an arse (a lot of an arse), I just think his emotions get the better of him, and I'd have him back in a heartbeat... Heckingbottom? Some great memories while he was here, but I really am struggling to like him right now. It seems cold and calculated and all the while he's been wanting away our team has been fcuking sh*t. And I'm now wondering whether his full focus has been on the job in hand.

They've just given him a new contract. We've been sh*t for 12 months and they still gave him a new contract. I doubt any manager in the history of football has produced so little for so long and seen new owners come in and still been offered a new contract.

Have to agree. Wednesday were Wilson's club and Bristol was Johnsons. Can't blame them. Only mistake Danny made was saying he was staying.

Big Hecky fan but there's something not right here. There is no way he and his coaching staff didn't know this approach was coming. The signing the new contract I can just about accept but there was an interview with him posted on IPlayer saying there was never any need to worry, he was always staying etc. Just makes me a bit sick

Unless GG knew about this, you've got to feel for the guy, working his balls off trying to sign players for Hecky who was on his way all along.

Heckys comments about the backroom staff etc - very disappointing

Not too fussed about loosing Hecky as manager. Last 12 months been very poor. Just feel sick someone I thought was a genuine solid bloke has come accross so cold and ruthless

He got the signings he wanted in January , he got the contract he wanted (he signed it) then fucked off to Leeds for the money in a less than graceful way . he wasn't hard done to , he admitted to struggling with the off field management side that a club the size of ours requires and used it as an excuse for poor form . He was lucky and privileged to be given an opportunity to manage BFC , he's gone for money nothing else ,absolutely nothing else. He owes Barnsley Fc and Patrick Cryne everything because he wouldn't have had the support or time anywhere else.

I don't doubt his commitment to us for a second. He could have quite rightly walked out at any point considering the list I wrote originally - I think the problem is he was so committed people took the piss and in the end he was presented with an opportunity that he felt was too good to turn down.

There's something more in the timing too - it's far too coincidental that he signed a new deal Friday and they came in Monday. It's just too Barnsley. There must have been whispers, he must've been sounded out for such a quick turn around so it begs the question why sign a new deal? Definitely more to it.

    Jamie Clapham first press conference

'We don't know a lot about the lads brought in'

Sound like a staff who got what they wanted?

He admitted struggling because the work load was so great because he wasn't given the tools needed. That's the point of the original post. That's not his fault, it's the club's.

My guess. His old deal didn't have a release clause in. He's commited his future but insisted on a release clause 'just in case'. Knowing full well it was his escape route with the club that had already lined up to sign him.

No way in hell did so many people all decide their futures in less than 24 hours and the statement that HE wanted to take more with him says to me like he orchestrated their leaving. Let's not forget that Leeds wouldn't have been offering terms to the backroom staff without first ensuring they could get the manager. So just exactly how quickly are we expected to believe the others made these decisions? Within seconds?

Football is bent and this is definitely a prime example. Somebody is lying, somebody has been sneaking around. And from the statements released so far it looks like one person is practically admitting it

Lets face it Jamie Clapham came across as a bloke who didn't know much about Adam Hammill never mind the new signings . Are you really saying Hecky didn't ask for Keifer Moore, Ollie McBurnie ,Matt Mills ,Jason McCarthy etc , Come on Dyson all this 'Hecky has been hard done to' is rubbish , hes been given time ,support a new contract and backing by the new regime and he's put two fingers up at us . Should fit right in at Leeds.

He was doing the CEO job last January and then saw the squad he had guided to the cusp of the playoffs ripped out from under him - as so many on here gleefully pointed out at the time.

I reckon he's finally thought "feck it" I've done all I can. Be nice to know what made him finally do it though.

This pretty much sums up my feelings too. I can't get my head around why he's done this. I thought he would have issued a statement to us at the very least.
