He's taken a group of lads who should not be able to compete with players that Birmingham have and instilled a system, discipline & energy that they can't cope with. What a manager.

There's still plenty of work to do, I've seen Nudger take some hammer but he's right in terms of our traditional forward play - we didn't create too many clear cut chances but got in to lots of good positions & played with pace & power and the fullbacks were the biggest reason for that. Folk saying Yiadom should never play for us again should watch that again & realise how lucky we are that we have him for the next two months - we won't replace him quickly.

All in all, great week & a good performance lads. Still stand by my opinion that if Hecky keeps us in this position all season then he's the Manager of the Year. Incredible.

You went on to say the exact reason I don’t think he should be playing for us. I’d rather let someone get up to speed in time for when he goes in January than be left at square 1. “Succession planning”

10/15 games or so between now & end of January? We're not good enough to not be playing our best players.

Hecky's shown that he can make players better on the training ground. Much better for Pearson & Cavare to be there than in the starting XI when Yiadom is available.

Agreed. Yiadom is a premiership quality player and we would be bonkers not to utilise his talents while here. Bit like a loan player - except the better he plays the more money we will get in January if sold.

Hecky takes massive credit. Along with the whole coaching staff. And the recruitment team who identified the talent.

If Fryers continues to perform like he did yesterday, I have absolutely no worries about relying on him and McCarthy going forward.

Totally agree we do not have the luxury of leaving a player of Yiadoms quality out of the team. Though I do think full back looks to be our strongest position in terms of depth in the squad

    Well said

Points wise, if we win our game in hand we are in a better position than this time last season

Bradshaw is on 8 (I think) for the season

Winnall only had 11 when he left....

Agree - huge strides again taken by Hecky and his backroom team.

If we can get a couple of good forwards in during January - and this squad stays together through January - including Yiadom - then this team is going to take some stopping during the second part of the season.

I think the difference between Yiadom & McCarthy was really clear yesterday. McCarthy still a way to go.

Winnall missed around a month at the start of the season through injury. 2 of Bradshaws goals came in the cup and 2 are very debatable as even his. Bradshaw is improving not trying to knock him down. But he is not the same level as Winnall yet.

McCarthy's perhaps not as much of a finished article as Yiadom, but whenever I've seen him play he's been excellent and shown huge potential so whilst perhaps not as good, he can definitely get to Yiadom's level quite easily

I thought Cavare was his replacement... but with him being injured it kinda fits that's Yiadoms still around,

I think we're vastly under rating how good Yiadom is. McCarthy strikes me as athletic but he's still very, very raw. Not a bad thing & got potential but he's 12 months away from where Yiadom was after a couple of months with us last year.

the way you talk about McCarthy's quite strange. He was POTY at CB in league two. He can defend.

Would be more than happy with any two from Yiadom, McCarthy or Fryers at full back. All three are comfortable on the ball and work well with their wide man in front of them

Both good, different players and I agree Yiadom is better. McCarthy is direct and athletic relying on these attributes to get past players. Yiadom has great feet, he's also a good athlete, his drag back is top drawer, he can beat a man from a standing position with ease. Full backs who can do that are rare.
