https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ing-inadequate-turnstiles-problem-tunnel.html Great article is that and one nobody who has been there would be disagreeing with. They have needed a new ground for years. At the very least the away end bulldozed and made safer.
Every time I’ve been I’ve said same! Given what happened (although lower tier), that upper tier is awful
I am never going in the Leppings Lane end again. It's simply not safe. As the report concludes, the fact that it is still standing is unbelievable. As if 1989 never happened.
Impossible to argue, never felt safe in that away end especially when we have taken large followings. The walk down those stairs from the upper tier when fully is frightening.
'Our documents also detail concerns about the Leppings Lane End – or the West Stand, as it is now known – where, 15 months ago, Newcastle United fans felt squashed and forced to carry their children on their shoulders as they tried to leave the concourse for their seats before an FA Cup Third Round tie. The club, local politicians and local media played down those concerns at the time and clarity from Wednesday on the subject was hard to come by. Mail Sport’s own repeated requests for information met no response. We criticised the club for this and have been banned from Hillsborough ever since'
Stupid reply. It’s a very good article, regardless who printed it. This actually highlights what the majority of fans already think. It needs to be brought into the public domain again as it’s not safe. I don’t care which paper does it. I’d never take my son in that away stand, and I know a few lads who also think the same too. Been a few times when it’s full - and it’s just not safe.
Banged seats on Kop end, west stand lower and one corner. Since cantilever (north stand) was opened in 1961. And west stand upper in 65. The west stand is diabolical. A bit like leeds west stand, another disgrace.
