This has probably been said before but who would actually be in favor of switching the end the home fans sit in?

The officials come out knowing they have to walk back past the away fans and sometimes the advantage of been at home isn’t taken due o where the players and officials come out.

Surely they would think again if they had to walk down past the louder fans.

And also it’s a bigger stand therefore even when both stands are full; the away fans make more noise as it’s mostly only the Ponty that sings.

I wouldn't be in favour of that, but I often think thats why referees come to Oakwell and are opposition biased (or maybe i'm just biased). It may help if there were more from the terrace in that corner - might just even things up a touch more.

    I quite like that idea

But I don't know if it would create security problems. Also, for the games against opposition bringing a large following, it would mean moving our fans from their personally selected seats.

    Well said....

Like Colchester were last season. What a waste of 6,000 seats, or why dont they even split the stand instead of leaving it half empty. Other clubs split the stands between home and away fans and we have previously split the stand in past "community" games. You can create some right noise in the away end, 300 supporters sounds like 3,000. Give home fans the best facilties instead of having to piss out in the open. Believe we have safety issues regarding the West Stand but we are refurbishing it at the end of the season so that it gets a safety certificate for next season.

Think the atmosphere from the home fans as been good, especially Saturday with all sides of the ground getting behind em.

North Stand is our Kop. Why give it to the away fans?

Some interesting ideas there. But what about when we play Wednesday? I suggest we give them the whole of Oakwell lane from top to bottom :D

I believe the club have said before that that wont happen because the security is set up to house away fans in the north stand, not the west (how that works when we have them in the west for big games I don't know).

But for your other point of games with large followings meaning the home fans would lose their allocated seat in the other part of the west stand, they could always make it so that the north stand is pay on the day only for home fans (ie no season tickets) then when away teams fetch a lot of fans they would get the same seats as they do now, west and north, thus allowing the home fans to keep their west stand seats. For these games I think we should use the old tunnel and changing rooms, not the new ones as we are losing our home advantage by having the teams walk out between the away fans.

Also somebody else commented on the away fans being so close to the tunnel and influence the ref because he has to walk right past them. The answer to that is quite simple isnt it. Give them the middle section of the North stand and don't allow them to sit near the tunnel area. Lets take away their advantage, afterall Oakwell is OUR ground :)

I presume it works because on those occasions the away team also have the North Stand, so you don't have a problem with segregation of fans approaching the entrances....if you just gave away fans the West Stand but home fans in the North then the issue could be in large groups of both sets of fans having to cross paths to get to their respective stands - just a thought.

I thought that and to be honest i'm not entirely sure where the turnstyles are in the north stand but I wonder if there would be any way to allow home fans to go round the East stand to the north rather than down grove street past the West stand. It would avoid them having to walk past each other.
