Ashley's running of the Toon as a paragon of virtue? I think not. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/oct/05/newcastle-united-investigated-abuse-tax-system
Two of you know have mentioned the fans they get. they do get big avg crowds home and away. Can't think too many of there tickets go on general sale for away matches. That's not what I meant, what was getting at was the passion of the fans at oakwell and more up at SJP was amazing. I think most people would say they are right at the top of that. The noice for a team that was already promoted when they found out the result was amazing,
I think the big difference is that we're only dealing with one buyer, and we're further down the road with it, so don't want to do anything to derail it. Newcastle are obviously a bigger fish and there is more interest. They want the interested parties falling over each other to offer the best deal. Simple really
If you think they are doing things right and it is obvious you are using this to knock the club, management and owner yet again, perhaps it is time you bought a season ticket for Newcastle: you can go and watch them all over the country and be their No 1 fan.
You do realise Newcastle fans hate Ashley? I'm not sure why you're holding him up as some paragon of ownership. I'm not surprised you'd like Oakwell renamed. You hate anything that reminds you the club existed before you started "supporting" it.
I wasn't going to reply to you as I know you're just on a wind up. But I can guarantee you that Newcastle's takeover won't go through. Mike Ashley has no intention whatsoever of selling up and he puts the club up for sale every couple of years to try look like the good guy. He'll still be there this time next year I am certain of that.
Yeah, I wish we had a chairman like Mike Ashley who conducts business in the pub, yacks in the fireplace and treats his staff like slaves - what a guy.
Isn't Newcastle one of the biggest cities with only one league team - and a catchment area of nearly 100miles to the North? No surprised they get a lot of support. Leeds is a bigger city, but has Huddersfield and Bradford within a relatively short distance to dilute the fan base.
So you have a Del boy type looking for as much as he can from anybody with the most money and a caring owner who despite extreme personal health issues is looking for the right type of buyer for his club, and you think Newcastle have the it right ? fk me.
Phil you started by comparing Ashley with PC when as far as integrity and professionalism go there is no comparison. As for the Newcastle fans passion they had just been promoted; I remember the passion of the Barnsley fans against Bradford City. F***ing amazing.
Their support is fickle ... as I said they were getting no.more than 14,000 in the old second division. Most premier league clubs sell out their away allocation - you should see restrictions Everton have on their away tickets in terms of number of away games to qualify
Sorry to say this Phil but unfortunately this is yet another example of your lack of knowledge and understanding of the game of football.
Everton are another fantastic club as are Tottenham in the way they go about things. The youth operation and playing younger players and English players is fantastic. On the attack on me. People need to wng the necks in abit and stop trying to guess what I was saying. My comments were about the potential sale ONLY and how they are operating this with the fans. On Mike Ashley I think the way he goes about things are strange for a billionaire. From both of the big business he at least part owns I think he's tried to get people in that industry to do things for him and it's not worked. When he was talking to the MP's about Sports Direct the little he knew about the inner workings of the business was awful. He clearly doesn't have much to do with that part other than maybe a few of the bigger meetings he needs to attend. With Newcastle it's the same since the early honeymoon period where he was in the crowd with the newcastle fans at Arsenal. He's got business and football men in he thought he could trust and that didn't work many could say including him. The london mafia was aimed at the people he brought in wasn't great and then not been able to stand upto the fans with Allydyce when they turned on the manager very quickly. Joe Kinnear Dennis Wise maybe were mistakes with the first a pr disaster. I was listening to talksport at the time when JK came out and called Yohan Cabaye Yohan kebab and wanting to sign a player Newcastle had out on loan.
I wonder. It's a mystery to us all. Up there with that Malaysia Airlines plane that went missing a few years ago.
