Thought he took Southampton from L1 to Premiership in successive seasons? Can't have been pure luck. Management is not a straight forward business. For me, people place too much emphasis on the cult of personality, believing a manager has all the answers. There are very few managers around that can guarantee success and they usually have buckets of cash to spend. I think we are very lucky to have PH, who is obviously a good coach. However there is so much more to management than just coaching. PH is a great fit for us while ever we are patient. He will take us forward incrementally. People assume that if he had more money it would mean success, I'm not convinced. Atkins obviously can manage, but as with other managers, success depends on so much more than their ability. Being given time is usually a good place to start. LJ is a good example of this. given his record last year you would have expected him to be sacked, he wasn't and now it looks like they might reap the rewards.
If you get a bit of a name for yourself ( even just once) football manager must be one of the best jobs in the world. You get sacked, paid off, negotiate a new job/ deal, lose it after a bit, get sacked, paid off and on it goes. AND in between you get to play football manager for real
