Just watched the 1st episode of the above on U tube. Uncle Mort and Les were down the allotment on which Uncle Mort grew weeds. The were talking about the relative merits of women and sheep dogs. Les said " the only advantage that women have over sheep dogs is that they don't chase motor bikes". I shall look forward to reacquainting my self with uncle Mort, uncle Staveley, Carter et al. Over the next few weeks on U tube.
I think we get a mention in the first series somewhere (the town not the football). Love the first couple of series of this. Not the same when Carter and Pat change actors though.
If you've not already read them, try and get hold of the Peter Tinniswood novels...Darker than the TV series but very, very funny.
it was filmed in S. Yorks....Swinton, a mile from my house.... haven't watched it for a while but its great to see the locality as it was.
There's mention of a relative from "Next stop Barnsley". The Mother never can remember the villages name other than thats what the guard on the train shouts as they get off.......Probably Wombwell.
I agree. Stephen Rae was replaced by Keith Drinkell, I think. not sure who replaced Anita Carey. Both originals were great for the Part. Rae seems to be dropping up in lots of dramas on BBC nowadays.
He did a very good radio series some years back on cricket. It was called " Tales from aLong Room" I think.
