I also remember you being asked which strikers we could get in on our budget. I recall the silence being deafening.
That's totally wrong. I've been saying we need more striker options - which includes a target man and a spare. I never recommend individual players - Hecky and his backroom staff will know much more about individual players than I do. I said the failure to sign McBurnie was a disaster for the club. And again that's been shown to be right.
If we get mcburnie in January pal and he bags over 12 goals before end of season, I'll buy you 10 pints.
We can go on about new signings all day long but even if we get new ones they’re likely to be young players who’ll need time to improve like our current lot. The plan is to develop players. I still think the same as I did at the start of the season which is that we’ll be in the relegation zone at the start of 2018 & whether we stay up or not is dependant on how quick the young lads develop. I think that considering how weak our team is we’re doing better than I’d expect. There’s an argument Hecky could’ve done a good job & us still get relegated due to just how weak the squad is
I think the new board should consider breaking the age rule for the one (maybe two) signing of either a central defender, or central midfielder, who will be captain of the team - Hecky's man on the pitch. The youngsters need an experienced hand and voice on the pitch to do this and, let's be honest, we seem leaderless on the pitch at times. MacDonald? Davies? We need a player who is in the thick of the action. Remember the job Jason Shackell did when he was brought in as central defender and captain. I am not saying he is the player (although he might be - looks surplus to requirements at Derby), but a player of that stature would do a significant job for us. Central defender, or central midfielder on a decent wage to be captain as well. Anyone got any good ideas?
