No they don’t. It’s a cnuts point of view. He’s dropped some ******** imho with subs and starting XI’s - but he’s been in charge in his 1st post only 2 years - he got a team promoted, won us a trophy, established it at a higher level , had the creative heart of that team sold off, then had his other midfielder and main defender binned off - had to negotiate transfer deals as well as coach the 1st team , and then mold another team of youngsters and lower league lads and still it’s not enough for some ? No. Not having it. He’s earnt a day like today.
Would you have posted this question had we won this one game today? That is my own first genuine question. My next genuine question would be- would fans be wanting to carry Hecky round the streets of Barnsley with a crown on his head had we won today? My final question might be - why does one result in a season of 46 results lead to ridiculous reactions?
I rate him as highly as you do and agree with most of your sentiments. But I have no intention of telling anyone else what to think, as I do not have that right. However, it's always nice to be educated by those who think differently and use condescending terms suggesting we wear rose tinted spectacles and think of Hecky as some sort of deity. They obviously know more than you & I which is why they make such comments.
Hecky reminds me abit like Wilson in his 2nd spell untouchable in some folks eyes don't get me wrong hecky has done great to get us where we are but has got it wrong on numerous occasions.
I think this is a very good question/thread, and Im glad to see fans on here are now looking beyond the obvious rose-tinted stuff about which town he comes from. Remember Hecky is not the god like character that we're meant to think he is, and if he stayed with us and took us down to Lg Two in successive seasons etc... then lets see and hear how many fans on here would love him so much after that because of where he comes from.
Personally, before today’s game I thought that the XI selected was more or less our strongest XI for this particular formation. I certainly don’t view 4-5-1 or today’s team as one that is set up to contain or to avoid defeat, as some have stated this evening. I do wholeheartedly agree with other posts though that have pointed out mistakes made by PH, not just today but on Tuesday night, Hull and QPR at home, etc. I was baffled today as to why PH didn’t immediately signal for Barnes to switch with Hammill after the initial Ayling confrontation when both found themselves booked and Barnes lost his head. I also couldn’t understand why in the first half we left Barnes forward when defending corners but in the second half we brought everyone back. On numerous occasions we cleared the ball from the corner only for it to be recycled immediately by an unchallenged Leeds player and another attack swiftly ensued. I’m 100% behind PH and I hope that his reign long continues but that being said I also hope that lessons are learned from mistakes made of late that can only be of his and the coaching staff’s making.
Rose tinted specs won 5 championship games with weakest squad in the League not a quality player on books and if we get one we know what happens. Wilsons squad was much more expensive . Name another manager that would want the job on current terms and one who could outperform him
I think he needs to bring in a Micky Mellon type as his number two as did Flicker. Someone who knows the division and how to grind a result imo
As of now we are 17th in this league in which the resources of nearly every other club dwarves ours. If we finish 17th (or above), or indeed, 18th, 19th, 20th or 21st, Hecky should be bloody well knighted. I've said it before and I'll say it again, any manager (regardless of where they were born) that keeps this bunch of lower league players in the Championship this season is a fecking miracle worker. Today Hecky picked the team that the majority on here wanted in the formation that the majority wanted and not one of them performed to the level they should, can and ought to. Pep, Mourinho or Alex Ferguson wouldn't have got a result today out of that bunch. FFS - Can I suggest an alternative thread - "Without Hecky would we already be sunk without trace in the relegation zone?" - My answer, yes.
It's pretty obvious for all to see that the question you posed was genuine. Toby tends to respond to most posts in an irrational manner.
I'm 100% behind Hecky. Being one of our own probably will assure him time and tolerance but no more than his outstanding record before the team was disbanded.
With the cr@p Hecky has had to endure with player contracts and player sales etc etc - the guy has qualified for a free pass this season and maybe next - it's as simple as that. I'll support the manager no matter what - even relegation. No one can say the same for the owner and direction of the club in the past few years. We are where we are because of decisions made by the owner and directors - NOT the manager.
