That’s a pretty attacking coaching team.

One winger, one striker. Suppose we will see if the players are suited to taking the game to an opponent for 90 minutes.

By that logic we'd have had a watertight defence under Collins! Wasn't George Graham a striker?!

He certainly liked the defence to have plenty of touches of the ball… perhaps he was trying to up their number of passes.

I’d like to see someone in before, what will have changed ? His close mate who he brought from Miami and a coach who’s been around years. Shudders

How much influence can a new man have with 4 days to prepare.

Agreed - better off letting the coaches there now deal with everything up until we have nothing more to play for.

Equally, how much influence can the current incumbent assistants have? And if the answer is ‘plenty’, where have they been for the last 12 games?

I personally don’t see any point in sacking the manager with a game to go, and just leaving it to his assistants. It smacks of desperation, deflection and trying to appease the fans at the point of ST renewals.

Complete free hit for Devaney, but a defeat would leave his CV with 4 from 4, a relegation and missing out on play offs on the last day.

Do we need much change? Stop the tippy tappy hoof, move the ball faster, play on the front foot, maybe bring back a press from the front 2?
Martin and Jon stead have worked under some good managers they've been in the game a long time. Hecky only started off a interim manager here. I know I give him stick but he's done ok since.

And devaney took charge 3 games and he played mostly kids?

I think all that could be equally true. We just have to wait and see what version of em turns up on Saturday. Actually, you could argue if they have any shred of fight left, they shouldn’t even need a coach. They all know enough about football. What fans will expect to see on Saturday is something different. If we lose by attacking, so be it. More of the same though and crawling out of the top 6 will just be unforgivable for me.

Devaneys 100% losing record when taking charge of the first team doesn’t fill me with confidence.

Saturday’s not the problem. We’ll win. These Northampton lads will all be off on their jollies & out of the country by Monday. They might not be quite as bad as the Rochdale side that turned up here on the last day & lost 6-0 but they won’t have anything to play for.

It’s all about the play offs & hoping we can play like we did last week at Pompey.

I hope not. We threw a 2-1 lead away and lost.
