Generally I feel when we have gone down we have deserved to and rightly we have been one of the 3 worst teams... I really don't think we are this season and if we can manage to stay up I'm sure we can improve further next year. The way we have played since we have come back especially defensively has been fantastic in comparison to the team earlier in the season shipping goals. We are still in with a shout however slim so I hope the good work that has been done the last few months isn't wasted.
Agree 100%. Easy to say the table over 46 games doesn’t lie, but honestly this is the only potentially relegated team I remember where it feels overly harsh. Too many new arrivals last summer, too little experience in the early days cost us. This team as it stands now are not in the 3 worst teams in the division.
Going to be narrow margins, could come down to 2 points that pen at home v charlton and I never thought it was a pen at the time.
Not saying that we’ve been anything but inadequate this season but just remember that three teams have cheated to be where they are in the league.
If we go down we'll be doing it with a minimum of 5 more points than we did last time, and 7 more than we did in 2013/14. Struber and the team have to be commended considering the inexperience of our squad, plus the fact we started much worse this campaign with 1 win in 19 or whatever it was.
Struber’s done a great job and most of the players have the potential to be Championship level. We were a real shambles early in the season but as it stands are better than the table suggests. Real shame if we go down
Shipping so many goals earlier in the season when we played a defensive line up that would have struggled at non league level has caught up with us. You can't play around with hard won Championship status like this lot has done. We can play nice stuff and it's heartbreaking to see another step backwards for this great club.
Think we've more than held our own against top teams in this league with the unfortunate exception being Brentford at home. We have tightened up considerably mainly down to Sollbauer who has been immense since his shaky first game. Last time two times we've gone down from this league we were really poor- since Christmas I don't think we have been
This - we were down and out when he came in. Given the limitations of the squad that we all know, he has done a rather good job.
The lunacy of last Summer's sales (plus failure to adequately replace them early) and the improvement since Sollbauer's experience was brought in demonstrate why our season went wrong, and how we could have avoided it. Will the owners learn? History is not encouraging.
We are 14th based on the results since Struber arrived. We would be 13th if Struber's PPG of 1.28 was applied to the full season.
A lot if if’s and buts. The table tells its own story. Its annoying and frustrating that there are clubs cheating their way through The championship and even more frustrating the EFL Dont sort it out. However it is what it is and while we are playing better right mow we still have our rabbit in headlight / inexperienced / lack of quality moments like Vs Stoke. My main contribution to the ‘if only’ debate is that i dont think we gabe ourselves the best chance by going all in with kids season start. If only we would have looked at some more experience and quality to get us through, a couple of loanees maybe till Christmas. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but a lot of people were saying the same back in August
The stat that's done it for me is the one sky kept showing in the Leeds game. 4th in the league for creating chances but 23rd for converting them to goals. If we had just converted a quarter of those chances we would have been comfortably above the drop zone even taking into account some of the howlers we've given away. That also goes for the games since lockdown. The Luton, Leeds and even Wigan games should have had more goals in the "for" column based on chances - good chances created. We quite easily should have had 5 more points just from those 3 games. Defensively we kept shooting ourselves in the foot especially before Christmas but the whole season has seen the forward players causing as much problems for the team as the defence.
If we go down it will be because we had a rubbish strip. Next season we'll be promoted because the home shirt has a white trim.
