As long as we address central midfield we’ll have a good chance of coming straight back up.

I’m not even that worried about Davies at that level, he was fine last time & it’d probably do his confidence the world of good playing in a team at the top end of the league. Ideally I’d like a new goalie though

League one is gash, hence why Blackburn and Wigan have walked it.

I watched Shrewsbury twice last week and considering they have topped the league all season, I thought they were very poor.

Well seeing as I have read mainly nothing but negative posts on here for the last 4 months. I thought that someone taking a longer term view of the club and its prospect's for next season, was a positive. At 4.45 on Saturday most supporters had accepted relegation. All I hear are if's,maybe's and then we'll be safe, fingers crossed. The team has struggled all season and there's no point going over and over continually why that is. If and it's a big if they did avoid relegation, the club is not going to change its way of working. So next season will be like this one, possibly worse. Hasn't it been ever so ,since Administration?
The OP was viewing the future optimistically and I commend them for it. It's much better than the endless Navel gazing, personal attacks and armchair Coaches opinions, that seems to be the norm now.
For people to twist the intent of my short post and then attack me for it,shows how bad this forum is becoming. It's just football.

That team looks far more likely to get relegated to league 2 than promoted to the Championship to me.

Whatever league we are in next season, we should be looking to offload them all if a good enough offer comes our way. They are all too used to losing, so have that mentality. We need a completely fresh group of players. The worry is we either......

    1) Do as you say. Yes we might piss the league, but then we will be back in the championship with a squad not good enough for it. Or.....

    2) We stay up this season and Morais does a Flicker of showing loyalty to the group that kept us up, and so we end up going down the season after anyway.

I’d bet on us if we can keep the team together.

    You’ve hardly been attacked.

I just don’t see it as positive when we aren’t down yet.

    1. Bradshaw would be off

    2. We’d probably have to pay off the likes of Pinilos and Cavare

    3. We have some very mediocre, low confidence players

    4. Jury still out on this management team

Prepare for more disappointment. Anything else is a bonus

But we are stopping up so I can only assume that whoever is talking about league 1 is absolutely falling down drunk.

I reckon if we go down someone like Wigan will take a punt on Bradshaw. 700k coming into the last year of his contract, not huge wages for a player with experience at this level, useful squad player to have.

I don’t think that’s the case, as long as the players continue to realise they’re young players that are only going to get better they shouldn’t have a losing mentality.

Wigan & Blackburn haven’t. I’m not sure about Blackburn but Wigan certainly haven’t had to have a overhaul to get rid of a losing mentality

Think they’ve already got that type in Will Grigg but I agree he’s definitely decent option off the bench for a lot of clubs at this level

It’s not a definite thing that the players will only get better. Some may regress, others may stay the same.

I think you're right, after all the disappointment and Heartache of the Championship I reckon we should bribe the Ref's to ensure we lose all our remaining matches so that we can ENJOY next season in League One. Top Idea!

Lets say we go down and then go straight back up with the same players, who have in that time improved. I don't think I have the confidence we would keep our side together and carry on the momentum like Millwall have. I would expect us to again lose our best players in January, something Millwall did brilliantly to avoid happening and are benefiting from, with back to back promotions a possibility.

What did they do “brilliantly“ exactly? Don’t recall reading about them turning bids down for any of their players. What they appear to have is an efficient, well organised team without any stand out players. They’ve had stability and built steadily over a number of seasons. Don’t like the guy but you’d have to say that Harris is doing a cracking job.

I bet Sunderland fans were saying this about the championship last season. If we do keep this squad together then we will still have a squad with a losing mentality, despite the quality of the players. I still think our best chance is to try and stay up this season, to me though, it doesn't really matter which league we are in next season, a huge freshen up to the squad is needed.
