....then you can go out and spend ludicrous amounts of money on their replacements.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40430369

Kodjia went for about ten million to Villa I believe so Lee has gone out and reinvested some of it. Even basket case clubs like Brizzle can spend their way out of trouble. On the other hand his luck could run out this season.

I hope they finish bottom :)

    Makes sense to me.

Better than sticking it under the mattress.

£6m for Mawson. How much should we spend on a replacement CH? Er, zero.

We spent £100k, and it turned out to be the best £100k we've spent for a long time.

He was already at the club.

Just because we've got money doesn't mean we'd need to spend it stupidly. If we'd spent £1 million+ on a replacement I doubt he'd have been much better than Angus

I completely agree that spending it makes perfect sense rather than 'shoving it under the mattress'

Clearly the club do too, as has been proved by the money spent in transfer fees so far this summer, with more to come

He was signed around the time when rumours of Mawson leaving were getting strong. Pretty clear to see that he was brought in as Mawson's replacement.

Lee will probably play him full back and wonder why he's scored 1 in 30 games, he'll then be sacked a new man will come in and he'll finish the season in double figures. Lee will then later claim what a signing he made and continually tell folk how he brought that player to the club.

He's a scouting genius though. Fletcher was a nobody at Old Trafford and he turned him into a Wembley-scoring sensation. Plenty more as well. He knows a decent player does LJ

One of the only things he can do properly. Spot a player that can improve hugely.

I think Gus was brought in to replace Alfie & has proved to be shrewd business, hopefully Connors replacement, who I believe is Alex Mowatt, comes good

He's Conor's replacement minus the goals, assists, set pieces and work rate. Very unimpressed with him so far and still not sure what type of player he is meant to be.

I'm not sure how much influence he actually has. Certainly here, it's more a process than about an individual.

Indeed, our owner openly stated one of the very few times he followed Little Lee's advice, we ended up with Conor Wilkinson, thankfully not on the 4 years he was asking for. But one of the worst attitudes seen for many a year with minimal talent to back it up.

I am going to reserve judgement on Mowatt. He seemed keen to impress when he came in.
Seen where he's been training on his own in the close season and has shed some weight.
Let's give the lad a chance to prove himself.

As far as Lee Johnson is concerned he has been lucky. He walked out on Oldham, he survived
at Oakwell when he should in truth have been sacked and left us to join Bristol.

For some reason when he had a similar bad run to ours last season his Chairman Steve Lansdown
stuck by him. If that happens again this season the pressure from the fans will be intolerable and
I'd wager he will jump before he's pushed yet again.

I wouldn't say Fletcher was a nobody; by all accounts he was above Marcus Rashford in the pecking order at Old Trafford prior to coming to Oakwell. Rashford got his opportunity due to good fortune. Had we not taken Fletcher out on loan, he could potentially have had game time that season at Man Utd.

I think there was a system in place at Oakwell prior to Lee Johnson signing. Marc Roberts for one was signed by Johnson however was initially a target under Danny Wilson. Andy Yiadom was a target under Johnson and signed by Heckingbottom. I get the impression that the targets are identified within the club and the manager is given the final say.

Obviously I can't speak for his time at Bristol. I certainly think that the signings we've made though are more down to the fabled 'spreadsheet' rather than the managers ability to spot a player. Develop one maybe but maybe not spot one.

Think he's in joint control of a recruitment team here. Anyhow, I don't feel confident with City spending this amount of money on one player.

I keep in touch with a City fan who works for nPower in Swindon. He was telling me that a lot of City fans
wanted LJ out when the Club went through their losing run last season.

Is there still a lot of animosity around him or given that he managed to turn things round has some of that feeling
    lost momentum.?
