I have just the basic TV package from them but just noticed they are now showing free sports on ch 553.
This must be in place of the channels they lost last week.
    Football on at 6

Yeah, it's supposed to make up for the 10 channels we've just lost. I'm going to miss Dave, Gold and Yesterday. I probably only watch TV an hour or two a fortnight if that, but when I do it tended to be one of those channels.

Anyone on virgin if you ring and complain that they have broken the terms of the contract you signed as the channels lost were part of the package they will upgrade you to full house at no extra cost

Jacked in my TV deal with virgin a few months ago , I've just got internet/ phone with them now . Saves me about 25 quid a month . I did get a few extra channels the other day past the usual BBC/itv/ ch5 etc . I'm guessing it's virgins version of Freeview .

If you miss the channels you can still get Dave etc on free view . Just switch from hdmi to tv through your tv source button and if your rooftop Ariel is connected to your tv you’ll find them on there

Ah thank you. I don't think we have a wire for an ariel, I've never seen one. I don't pay any attention to TV set ups though, I thought you needed a freeview box?

I've always wondered why people are happy to pay companies like Sky, Virgin, BT etc for TV programmes which they could get free by plugging an aerial in? We've already paid for these programmes once via our TV licence and then again through advertising. Why pay again for a product we've already paid for twice?

And while I'm on a roll, I don't have a landline either. I know people forking out over £100 per month for stuff which I get for next to nowt. Mind you, I spend more than that in the Curry Mahal...

We've phoned up a couple of times to try and haggle but as we have almost the highest Broadband package they do for Will's gaming the TV package we have (Mix) and the phone line is basically negligible. In fact, they told us once that it would cost more to take them off as we have some sort of special package that we negotiated years ago that still stands.

How old is your TV? With most modern ones (and all new ones) freeview is built in so sticking an aerial in will get you free view channels.

That explains it then, I pay £20 a month for a mobile internet connection as I've no landline. It's limited to 40Gb per month though, which Will would probably use up very quickly. I pay nowt for TV as (like you) I hardly watch it. We've also got a satellite receiver with countless German channels, once again all free of charge. It astounds me just how much people are prepared to pay.

It's only about a year old but it's a TV monitor. We're not sure if we actually have an aerial?!

Edit: It's this which does mention Freeview in the listing actually:

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01BSYZEXO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

We got it (for free with Swagbucks Amazon vouchers!) basically to use as a computer monitor but it doubles up as a TV for the rare times we put it on. It does mean that we can't have TV on whilst Will is gaming though (so all evening ;) )

At my last house I made an aerial out of an old metal coat hanger and it worked perfectly.

Just had a look and yes that TV definitely has freeview HD built in. As for you having an aerial this may be a daft question but is there one on your roof?

    I actually have no idea!

OK, just been outside to look. There's 2 aerials on the roof which I guess means one is for our house. (It's a semi detached but our side has been converted into two separate houses, with us having the downstairs one so technically it could be upstairs' and nextdoor's). There's also 3 Sky dishes which I'd never noticed before but of course we're not paying for Sky anyway.

Edited to add: Will just said 'one of these wires (at the side of him) might be an aerial' but he can't be bothered to check right now.

Tell him I said he's a lazy sod. I think he's just avoiding checking so that he gets to use the TV more for his gaming.

I have a picture of myself and Natalie. I hope she has kept her copy safe. ;)
