Yes a multicultural mix for sure. Most of our "overseas" players at least have one english parent though. Think there's only Curran who doesn't. His dad was a fine player when Zimbabwe had a half decent team (curran didn't play in the comp though)
We've always had overseas players. In my time watching there's been loads, from Greig, Lamb, R Smith, Mullally, Caddick, Malcolm, to Pieterson and many more i can't recall off-hand.
Mike Denness, Tony Greig, Eoin Morgan all captained England. Plus of course Atherton being a Lanc, that's almost akin to being foreign.
Yes its great that out of all the millions that are clogging up the roads and NHS and housing and putting a strain on the police force we have at least 2 or 3 that can play cricket. It’s wonderful.
Putting pressure on the NHS and strain on the police? I think you mean the Tory party, not immigrants.
Yeah but !!! What if we actually controlled immigration, and let people in to work in the NHS - but limited the rest of them?
OH ME OH MY, another thread turned into an argument on immigration, or whatever, totally irrelevant to the post.
Adil Rashid was born in Bradford. Moeen Ali in Birmingham. So what's your point? Maybe you were referring to Stokes?
Saw a clip on Twitter of the pair of them running away from the rest of the team when the champagne corks were popped, to avoid "contamination" of the demon drink. Very amusing seeing them scurrying off!
So if we won the cricket world cup because of immigrants did we win the football world cup because of the lack of them?
No, my take on the o/p is that we are a multicultural society and anyone is capable of success, if they’re good enough of course
