Cummings is a good striker but he needs managing 24/7.
Walker is a great player too but not blessed with pace.
Interestingly both came through the Hearts academy.
But it's none of these two.

What are the other options Nudger?
We can't afford the finished article, 30 goal a season strikers from the top 2 leagues or midfielders with more assists that hot dinners, we have to buy young & nurture their talent & ambition to our own ends while ever they are at our club.

Who has left for next to nowt recently, to my mind the only players that left had 4 months left on their contracts & we got money for them, it's good business, very frustrating for a fan, but good business.

We could go out & buy experience, Mido, Lita, Scotland, they have done it at other clubs, bring em in, oh wait a minute, we did & they were shi..te.......

Strong rumour that Nick Townsend could join Chesterfield on a free to replace Tommy Lee who is looking to move on in the close season. Also Rotherham might be looking to re-sign Aidy White.!!??

Or John Hendrie, Paul Wilkinson, Neil Thompson

Not every experienced player will be ***** just like every young player won't be the next Houriane.

Hearts wanting White as well. He got slated at Rotherham so don't know why he would want to go back there.

Townsend leaving is probably best for the lad. Not getting anywhere near our team and with Jack Walton getting a little bit older, maybe it's best throwing him in as our number two. The England setup seem to rate him and have him on their radar for their youth teams.

Many don't understand that. It's been obvious especially the second half of this season that we needed some experience. We've signed plenty of ***** young players and should be signing players based on ability to improve us instead of being ageist and writing off quality players just because of their age.

    Or
Keith Tracey, Brek Shea, Leroy Lita and Andy Blair
    Versus
Ashley Fletcher, Gerry Taggart, josh Brownhill and Jacob Butterfield.

There is no right or wrong. Youth is sometimes better than experience. Sometimes it's not. By and large teams work best with at least a sprinkling of experience. Last season we got away with not having any as we had Conor and his natural leadership and inspirational play. If you haven't got that you may need to consider who sets the example and leads when times get hard.

Not many experienced players come cheap any more, if it is someone coming to the end of a career, like Paul Wilkinson, who IMO was the perfect player, at the perfect time for us, backed up by his mate Hendrie, would now be out of our price range, it's 20 years ago & times have changed.

Look at Matty James, he's been superb since he came in & got better the fitter he is, but we all know we can't even afford half his wages, big money gets experienced players now, but they are still a gamble.

Fletcher wasn't experienced, he's just going to be a solid player, higher up & when his potential was spotted, he then became too expensive for us, we are dealing in a market where every signing is a risk, either by seeing if a loanee will gain fitness quick & improve us, or that a young player will achieve his potential quickly in the time we have him here & then holding onto him, but also making money from him when he does go.

Who would have taken Ross McCormack at the beginning of the season? Proven goal scorer on allegedly 40k a week

It's interesting you say that. A few weeks ago, I was watching Aberdeen's 6-0 victory at Dundee. The commentary team said Jack's contract at The Dons was up this Summer & he was expected to sign for a particular Championship club. I've been wondering since then whether that club could be us. He certainly looked a decent player that night (scored, too), but you also have to take into account the less than impressive display from the opposition.

The Blunts have triggered contract extensions for several of there key players because they had the sense to put them in the players contracts we didn't hence our current form and need for 12 to 15 signings in the summer.
