Now they are top of the 7th tier and pushing for Vanarama North football.

    Pretty torn myself.

For me they are our own version of RB Leipzig.

Leipzig are the first East German side to reach the Bundesliga since the fall of the wall and they give great opportunities for the local youth. However, most Germans can't look past their roots (basically MK Dons with a lot more money) and despise the club.

That's exactly what Shaw Lane are like, and although it would be great for the town if they keep on rising it would also make me very uncomfortable and I'd refuse to go watch them.

    Refuse to watch them?

I've got one team and it's the only one I will ever watch.

Shaw Lane are not on my radar but good luck to them.

I wouldn't want any club to start drawing support away from BFC.
Seemingly it's not currently happening thankfully. I don't quite see how their success is good for the town.

Depends on the level of success. Top end of none league is good for the club because it provides a good feeder source for us but anything higher and it is a potential competitor.

Wednesday fan takes over a club in Barnsley and changes kit to blue & white stripes.

    That's enough for me.

If they go up this season they'll be at level six. They cant survive at that level without crowds of 500 plus or alternatively heavy funding from their owner. I know that currently it's the latter that's driving them.
I do get the attraction of non league football and have watched quite a bit recently. I'd like to think that if I still lived in the area I'd have gone to watch one of the long standing local sides, Athersley, Worsborough or Penistone.

The Sheffield Wednesday connection is enough for me to not go and watch them.

Nothing wrong with wishing success for your local non-league sides.

Get up another level and there will be some huge attendances with the likes of Stockport County and FC United coming into town.

Equals more income for local businesses

They play in plain blue, with plain red away.

As to the poll. An option for 'I don't dislike them' is probably more appropriate.

Hmmm, one or two pubs might benefit I guess. Personally though, as a club, they seem to me like a cuckoo in the nest.

my boys play for their junior sides we used to be Baugh boys and played in red. We were given all this gumph about how there would be now a team for the juniors to progress to and play for but that's never going to happen. We are no better off than we were before and now we don't know if we can play there next season
