Would love us to get the better of them for lots of reasons but worry that we won’t have the same motivation as them. I’d still prefer them to get automatic promotion rather that the Owls as we need them out of the way for the playoffs but their arrogance is close being Wednesdayesque.
I suspect they have comfortably the most expensive squad in the league in terms of transfer fees, and top two with Wednesday in terms of wages. They should be asking why they're not already promoted. Can't see us beating them sadly, we never do.
I kinda want them to for the comedic value. The way their fans call up praise or Grumble, and say the only way they'll go up is if they sack Moore and give it Brian Laws with such certainty. I genuinely think I'd find it funny if Moore takes them up as champions.
Feels like it would be very Wednesday-Like to sack Moore for "only" getting in the playoffs before they are played out.
I imagine if he doesn't get them promoted he will be sacked. I think Warne will be on thin ice too at Derby if they aren't promoted a bad start to next season and he will be gone.
Its a dead rubber for us now. Even if we win we're still behind 3 teams with only 2 games left. Can't see 2 of the three slipping up to let us into 2nd spot. It's mathematically possible but I think the game means more to Ipswich than us. I'd still want us to win but would understand if we didn't give it our all. Hope I'm wrong but Ipswich are flying and I think they will halt our 9 game winning streak at home.
Being a ‘dead rubber’ game for us is exactly what Ipswich were hoping for when they got the game postponed with their 3rd spurious international call-up. Really hope we stuff ‘em
Not just slip up, we need one of Ipswich or Plymouth to fail to win any of their last three games. It's simply not going to happen.
Chaplin and Jackson will feel they have a point to prove and will be up for it. Morsy to an extent as well.
We could go all out, have 11 players injured going on for 50/50 tackles and we'd still be accused of letting Ipswich win on Porktalk! I'm hoping the match lives up to the hype!
The game definitely doesn't feel like it would have done had it gone ahead when it should have due to their EFL-backed manipulation. Even if we win, automatic is still a very long shot and out of our hands. However, I do think that a win would be a powerful statement and confidence booster going into the play-offs, also giving us the distinction of having beaten all of the top 3 over 2 'legs' this season. A win or draw (or even a 7-0 defeat!) would also see us confirm victory in the (admittedly non-existent!) Top Four mini-league:- Barnsley P5 W3 D1 L1 Points 10 GD +6 GS 11 Plymouth P6 W3 D1 L2 Points 10 GD -1 GS 6 Piggies P6 W1 D2 L3 Points 5 GD -4 GS 8 Ipswich P5 W0 D4 L1 Points 4 GD -1 GS 8 This shows again that we often play well against the top end teams, whilst they have tended to be more efficient at beating the middle-rankers than us (especially Ipswich who, for all their self-satisfaction, don't yet have a win against a fellow top 4 team). If we don't go up, taking 1 point out of 12 against Exeter and Lincoln will have been a significant factor.
