He could have gone to a number of other clubs - but he went to Wigan.
    And didn’t we miss him.
A player that could easily have put enough points on the board to lift Barnsley well out of the relegation zone.

Morsy is another - went from Barnsley back to Wigan because Barnsley couldn’t afford his wages.
Barnsley were in the Championship - while Wigan were in the 1st Division at that time.

Barnsley were always on a par with clubs like Bolton and Blackburn.
Both these clubs went on to much bigger things and as a result attracted a bigger fan base compared to Barnsley.
Chickens coming home to roost now.
And this also applies to Wigan.

I agree with you about Moore , loved the guy in a red shirt & was surely missed last season but regarding your other points , Morsey went back to Wigan because of a change of manager & us dithering , not the wages & regarding Bolton & Blackburn , if you know your football, you will know they were big players long before we even reached the second division never mind our one season in the top flight , in the fifties & sixties both Bolton & Blackburn were major players both in the top flight & cup final appearances .

We didn’t finish in the relegation zone though. Arguably because Wigan signed Moore and put him on big wages.

    Cracking business from the owners.

Morsy went back to Wigan, who were in the Championship at the time

Facts are neither of us could afford the wages he wanted. Wigan were willing/daft enough to offer him the big money move which he of course took. With the income they earn per annum they cant sustainable afford those wages just like we cant. When they offered him that money the owner was willing to foot the bill each year to cover losses. In recent months we have seen that change and they are now in admin.

I would 100% like to see us being more competitive wages wise to attract and retain better players, but first and foremost I want to see us stay sound financially as do not want to see us go through the same turmoil as Wigan, Bolton and even worse Bury.

Morsy went back to Wigan during the January 2017 Barnsley fire-sale.
My understanding at that time was that the owner was trying to recoup some of his outlay into the club and was not willing to meet Morsys wage bill - so Morsy went back to Wigan where he got better wages.

Bolton and Blackburn - in my time (mostly 70s and 80s) watching Barnsley always seemed to be competitors.
Players such as Houghton and Read spring to mind.

De Zeew allegedly tripled his wages when he went to Wigan in Div 1 in 1999 , that’s when we were still paying Premiership wages , so it’s been going on for a long time

Our 2017 firesale and 2019 lyndsay pinnock and Moore with hindsight could be interpreted now as good decisions maybe by PC and then the current board as this money made us financially stable and allowed us to live within our means as maybe Hourihane Winnall, Pinnock etc would not have signed new contracts if we hadn't paid them higher wages which we couldn't have sustained and we would have lost them for free also.
Also 2017 maybe as a business if somehow we would have managed to get promoted to the prem maybe the club were not then set up right in a position to deal with such a massive transition, we may now be though with the current owners experience.

    Wrong about Morsy.
He was loaned to us till January with a done deal to sign him after.
The then CEO tried to renegotiate his transfer fee and wages which gave him the right to rip up the deal and renegotiate with both clubs and Wigan offered more .
Out CEO was sacked soon after.

He went back to Wigan because we couldn’t match or improve on his Wigan wages.

He went back because our CEO feked up!
It was a done deal only way he could have got out of it was a fek up on our side and we did .
You making it out we couldn’t afford him full stop.
We only couldn’t afford him after the fek up .

Nudger making out we couldn’t afford and retelling the story lol.
We could afford him and offered a fair transfer fee and wages which was agreed on all three sides .
The CEO feked up and Mosys agent tried to conduct a bidding war with Wigan and Barnsley which PC correctly refused to indulge in and Morsy went back on enhanced wages .
The difference between Nudgers we couldn’t afford him story and not getting involved in a over hyping bidding war is a million miles off .

Spot on ....at the time i knew someone at oakwell, a guy at wigan and a close family member actually spoke to morsy!!
Its the only thing i have ever been 100% confident about on here and it did (along with a couple of other things) end up costing the ceo his job.
