The aggressively pursued and manufactured discourse shift to blaming individuals and regular people is a god send for the government. Nobody is asking questions of a govt that actively wanted people to get an unresearched, deadly virus a few weeks back (perversely strongly supported by some on here) as they are blaming each other. It is working and when the deaths per capita is higher than most countries, it will be the fault of the idiots out at the seaside at the bank holiday, rather than the govt that let it happen. Yes the people breaking the guidance are morons, but the govt that aren’t actively stopping it happening are negligent. Every country has idiots. Most badly affected ones have measures in place stopping those idiots, rather than tutting at them and saying what can you do.

Raab always looks uncomfortable in front of the camera. I don't think he craves the spotlight as much as Hancock or Gove.

Because like most of the Cabinet, he’s well out of his depth, They’re not chosen because of their abilities are they?

When that journo asked about the 1,000+ parties that the Manchester police broke up, she asked how did the government expect the police to control this given they're suffering absences themselves.
Unfortunately I got interrupted and missed the reply-can anyone on here say what the answer was?

So are you asking for some kind of martial law with the army supporting the police on our streets? We had that argument on here a while back when some were screaming and shouting about human rights and civil liberties (simply as a consequence of one little road block at Ardsley with the police asking drivers if their journey was essential)
**** loads of hypocrisy on here.

This seems to be becoming a law & order issue that requires appropriate policing. So ... where’s the woman in charge of it all? Where’s the Home Secretary? Where the hell is Priti Patel? You know, the one who thinks everyone earning less than £24,000 is unskilled! Let her face questions of her “send them home” nonsense!

I think they are at least partly there through shared ideologies and the extent to which they have supported the leader. Chris Grayling takes some explaining on any level though.

Today she was publishing the immigration points system details - the one that provided no route in to the country for "essential workers" its almost beyond belief that there have been no thoughts given to changing it in light of current circumstances
and that it is being published now

When Boris returns he's going to be idolised as if he were a brave officer who took a bullet leading his troops over the top. In reality he's more like the latest in a long line of generals who didn't bother to maintain the trenches leaving them open to attack, and even when given advance warning of a specific attack bungled the preparations and then happened to get shot when the trenches were inevitably overrun.

Just been listening to the ITV News reporter who was speculating as to when the current
lockdown might end. A Government spokesperson told him he didn't know, but the Cabinet
are becoming increasingly concerned as to what effect the pandemic is having on the economy.!

I watched the press conference today and one thing that I consider worrying that the science guy said that he thinks from speaking to other countries that probably only 10% or less of the population have had this virus.
What do people think is this a bad thing or a good thing just wondered for folks views are on this.
Would this mean they have to eradicate it completely before we can carry on as normal or wait for a vaccine to be developed.

With 92% of deaths being aged 60 and over it looks like the government aren't bothered about them. Put them on house arrest for three months and if any die well they are no longer a burden to social care or the pension pot.

Then there's another science guy who says 50% of people may be asymptomatic, so is that factored in to the 10% figure or not?

Well if that’s the case then the only thing that will solve it is testing the whole population which will never happen.
