    Seems like a bell end to me. We all do and say things we regret though don’t we? If the stuff is in the past fair dos if it’s in the present it needs to be looked at. As do boris Johnson and Philip and David Davies. If we are judging people based on casual racism and sexism then there will be a lot of by elections.

    Meanwhile this happens and no one cares.

    You can say that about all journalists/commentators who only seem to focus on wrong doings of politicians of the opposite colour. Doesn't make what this O'Mara twerp's said anymore acceptable.

    Not at all. I was all for forgiving him as otherwise what chance does anyone have who may have made poor remarks in the past?

    Folks need to be able to change their views and see the error of their ways. But if there are more recent stuff then I can't see how he can stay on.

    Like I say though, I hope it doesn't let that lovely person Clegg back in

    It is as far as I can see, folk can get away with nothing in this social meeja age but Owen Jones for example seemed to be skimming over these comments when he's gone full tilt against anyone of a blue (or non red) hue who has made similar remarks. Human nature I suppose, we make excuses (consciously or subconsciously) for those with whom we might share otherwise common values. May was called to task for delaying removing the whip from that MP that used the 'n' word - Corbyn's faffed about just as much here, but I bet The Mirror & guardian editorials don't get at him as they did May. And vice versa Daily mail when it happens to the Tories.

    I’m not sure it’s the best slope for anyone to go down. Boris and his dead bodies comments or his picannies for starters the Commons will be empty. Who hasn’t said summat daft in the past. Jacob Rees Mogg and his views on women hidden in religion. All of the dUP And Sinn Fein. A lot of SNP MPs with their anti English bile. It’ll be daft but if it’s right to look at one it’s right to look at all imo.
