Just leave it on! You'll honestly feel much better doing so than constantly stressing about it taking it on and off.
Millions of people will be affected for years due to missed operations due to covid restrictions on the NHS according to a report. No **** Sherlock. I quite like this bit though "The NHS says the shortfall was "because fewer people came forward for care". absolute rubbish. It wasn't because people were just sitting at home pretending they didn't have a heart condition, cancer or appendicitis it's because the NHS became unresponsive. You couldn't get in touch with your GP in the first place, we were all told we would die if we went anywhere near an hospital so A&E was a no go even if needed and the NHS canceled all treatment for millions of people. Because people just decided they didn't want saving anymore? Absolutely ********
If only we'd shut and controlled our borders, got a proper track and trace in place before rolling out this vaccine. If only we'd not saddled ourselves with massive debts due to so many failings. Most importantly we'd also have less death. Instead we've got a government who prefers flag waving to saving lives and livelihoods. A government more interested in shady trade deals and profiting personally from a crisis than managing one.
One of the things history will surely focus on is why a government wilfully continued with Brexit while also having to tackle the pandemic (badly, obviously). I mean we know why now, but in the cold light of day without jingoistic sentiment in a decades time, anyone of independent thought may consider it a bit stupid.
No goverment could have implented a proper track and trace system because it was and only ever could be optional.
It's government's role to promote such a scheme, to ensure it works and get people on side. Instead they sold it off to their dodgy mates, made folk anxious about downloading it and spaffed away 34 billion. Yet in South East Asia this was done using legislation, trust and a clear message that track and trace though not a silver bullet would help restore some normality.
Promote it as much as you want 67 million people to get on side is near impossible I know plenty who didn't want it and never bothered with it. it could never have worked my grandma is nearly 90 high risk to covid she has never had a mobile in her life never mind smart phone.
One thing we should never underestimate in this country.... we're world leaders in "youcanttellmewhattodo-ism"
When your asking 67million people to download a app on a smart device that tracks your movements and gives you notifications if you should self isolate, its going to be a uphill struggle. Plus many of the most vulnerable 75+ don't have a smart phone. Nice idea in theory though but it always had many flaws before it started.
I totally get not all would have the app, but the isolate part of the process is a joke. Folk unable to isolate without adequate financial reward were always going going to undermine the track and trace element. If folk don't lose out when adhering to something then you'll get greater buy in. Foreign travel and border control issues have lead to this mess. If you can't control the domestic spread via adequate track, trace and isolate why promote more risk?
Wasn't there a manual list supposed to be recorded for those that didn't have smart technology? Contact tracers could then trace through both media, digital and manual lists. Not difficult if the will and intent was there.
Well at least the tory's have inadvertently put the NHS into crisis mode. All without total destruction of budgets (usual trick) Then they can plough ahead and say the private sector can do better or help. Hay ho, the NHS gets privatised
There was manual lists at venues for people who didn't want to download the app or didn't have access to smart device. So then its the venues job to contact those people in case of a reported case at there venue that they are aware of.
Or they can contact track and trace. So it shows there were plural systems reliant on the consent of the public and not just a technological barrier.
And then they contact the said person who hopefully gave the correct name and number and hopefully they follow the rules and isolate
I see Dido Harding is now favourite to be the next CEO of NHS England you can decide for yourselves how well that will turn out
