Except for all the places that have performed better than ours. All of which are mostly due to successful track and trace and border control.

This is the Tory’s big lie. The underpinning of ‘we did our best’, virus control relies on control and tracking of movement. You’ll find posts by me and others from March / April last year saying this exact thing.

And the first sign that we weren’t going to do well was when we messed up sorting track and trace - 12 months in and we still have no functional T&T system.

But everyone is arguing about ‘lockdown’, it’s classic dead cat.

Final say on this, if you give people all options to comply, it then becomes a case of can'ttellmewhattodo-ism. And sadly, its endemic in our society.

To be fair... Sadiq didn't drive up to Scotland to test his eyes just before asking Scottish fans not to ;-)

There will always be people who will do what they want irrespective and justify it in any way they can. But there will also be people who would have done what was asked of them if the government asking them to do it weren't flagrant hypocrites without much clue.

Then you have very little understanding of how the right communications can change people’s behaviour.

Nonsense that there not needed outside and we went through 2 lockdowns while they were mandatory thats not nonsense thats facts.

So go on Mr know it all how would you have made it so 17k jocks without a ticket didn't travel?

Your the man because you are able to quarantine after a holiday to a amber country you assume most of the u.k are fine by it when in reality holidays are been cancelled every 2 minutes and the holiday industry is begging the government to scrap quarantine from amber list countries.

Step back with the attitude and read my post without the chip on your shoulder?

How did you come to believe something that was clearly untrue? What words phrases and actions made you take notice of a message?

Have you got children (or do you mix with any)? Does simply bawling an instruction at them make them behave how you want? Or is there more complex ways that’ll succeed in changing their behaviour?

I remember way back at lockdown one, Patrick Vallance talking about the dangers of fatigue in the population to accept restrictions. They underestimated how willingly people would actually follow them. I do though think we have reached that point. I don't know about opinion polls or the sentiments on social media. What I have seen the last 7 days being out and about is people only following guidelines for show i.e not actually following them at all.
I think this is linked to the messaging of government, we are told the vaccine is highly effective (even after 1 dose) at warding of hospitalisation and that the vaccine roll out has been excellent.
I think it's hard to have that message then convince people they can't dance at Wedding.
