It seems the club tried for months to get him. So I can't see Barnsley being at fault in why his transfer disintegrated. Hecky also says how much Oli wanted to be here - got to the club chopping at the bit with a big smile on his face. It's still hard to believe what's happened here to McBurnie. IMO Swansea have treated Oli McBurnie shockingly - even their statement after the event is patronising. If I was McBurnie - I would say to their manager - put me in the U23, I don't want to be anywhere near the first team subs bench this season. I'd follow that with a Transfer Request. As for Swansea - fingers crossed they get relegated this season.
He's hardly going to ask to be put in the under 23's is he. What he should do is try his hardest to impress in training to try and break into their 1st team. If he fails to do that then a move in January (and to us no doubt) will almost certainly be on the cards.
Why on earth would he do that ? Its no good spitting your dummy out, it rarely gets you anywhere in life. If he wants his career to progress, he does not want to take any backward steps, if he stays around the 1st team squad, he will have the opportunity to progress
How have Swansea treated McBurnie shockingly? They quite rightly wouldn't sanction his loan early doors with Llorente out with a broken arm. When Llorente returned from injury it transpired that he was leaving Swansea with Chelsea and Spurs both attempting to procure his services. Again, quite rightly in my opinion, Swansea wouldn't sanction his loan until the Llorente saga had been resolved with the player either staying at the club or the club signing a replacement. Unfortunately for all parties concerned the Llorente deal dragged on until end of the window and as a result our deal for McBurnie hasn't got over the line. Are you suggesting that Swansea should've potentially left themselves short by loaning McBurnie out whilst Llorente was injured or before they signed a replacement?
How time consuming and difficult is it to send a fax? 10 seconds? They have pi.ssed us and Oli about. Swansea weren't that bothered about him coming here - it's Oli who has pushed this loan deal because he wants regular football and is sick of sitting on the bench only getting onto the field for a few minutes. Hence he arrives at Barnsley chomping at the bit with a big smile on his face.
