As someone who studied and now train Kaizen models of lean thinking, Barnsley Football Club and it’s owners have never suggested they are implementing a programme like this. So it’s completely irrelevant
I've studied various management systems myself, having a degree in Management Studies from Leeds Uni. (I'm not as qualified as many above although I happen to also have an ACIB qualification & worked in the banking sector for 13 years, before f-ing it off to work in music, so have a bit of an insight). For me a club like Barnsley FC doesn't fit any such model. You could say the same with teams like Bournemouth, Brentford, Preston, Watford, Bradford City, Hull City, Peterborough, Portsmouth, etc, teams that have a reasonable fan base, but are never going to be a Man Utd, Liverpool, etc & with / without continued long term planning & investment are always going to be one season away from disastrous relegation. I'm really not sure what the plan is with us, other than for us to be a similar team Crewe were some years back (excluding the child abuse). The teams that do well have a beneficial owner that put money into the club, in the speculative hope of the dream of the Premier League. As a result I think L1 is the level we could be at for a long time. FFP, if implemented properly would give us a chance, but the EFL has put two fingers up at that by Derby bringing in Rooney as a "coach". He has no coaching badges & is getting 80k a week as a player / "coach". That is how ****** up it is.
I worked for a company that was bought out, 6 months earlier a Finance director joined us ‘as part of the team’. It turned out 6 months later he was part of the buyout and one of the new owners, so it does happen.
