Salary cap signing if ever there was one. There’s going to be a lot of players pricing themselves out.
I agree. I think this is a bad time to be out of contract unless you're one of the top few percent of players who are in demand. Getting a new contract or finding a new club will be very difficult and those who are wise will adjust their expectations to secure one. I suspect a lot won't and there will be a lot of players out of work by the end of the transfer window.
They’ll be more reliance on youth players with smaller squads, which might not be a bad thing as more players will get the chance to develop at a professional Level. Interesting times ahead.
The PFA are challenging the legality of the salary cap so the EFL are back under siege. Interesting times, indeed.
For all but a handful of clubs I think the salary cap may be irrelevant. Even without one they will be dramatically reducing costs anyway and as the biggest cost, player salaries will be the key area of focus. I I get that the PFA won't want a blanket restriction but they're burying their heads in the sand if they believe that current salary levels can continue.
I agree but one has to remember that Gordon Taylor is the CEO so don't expect anything like common sense being applied.
To be fair to him, he's scored goals pretty much everywhere he's been, apart from at Oakwell. And I don't recollect him getting a run of games in the side either.
