That’s my thoughts too. He just isn’t quite up on the speed of our play and prefers to put his foot on the ball and have a look round. He’ll get there I am sure.
On a few occasions we've needed to take a touch and retain possession. Sometimes we're too quick to get rid of it and just give it away.
I'm not convinced he's fully match sharp at the moment. But neither am I convinced that he's the one to step in alongside Mowatt. I'd have preferred to see Palmer given a start today. Obviously Kane will score now I've said that.
Poor game today despite his assist. Looked a yard off the pace and too slow in making decisions when on the ball. Disappointed. Needs to improve. Think Romal would be a better option at the minute. Brings more energy and bite into the CM position. Can make a tackle and does the simple things very competently.
For those of you of a more elderly disposition Kane reminds me of a Ray McHale. You’ll remember how he split the support! I think we might see the same with Kane. For what its worth I was a McHale critic. But I plead stupidity on the grounds of youth and not understanding how football really works.
We will feel we have to keep playing him to justify his seven figure fee, but I think Palmer is better than him.
Mchale was the glue that held that midfield together allowing Ronnie and Banger to get forward. Very underrated player.
Watched the Ian Banks heritage project interview the other day. Banger couldn't speak highly enough about him.
Very surprised to read the glowing statistics on FA cup player. Totally agree with the original post, from the start was struck by how woeful even his short passing game was. I dearly hope the comments about improvement over game time come true.
