Aye, I do recall hearing clint and hendrie had a bit of a do, can't remember what it was over tho', seems like super johnny lost the plot when he got the gaffers job, sithi.

Definitely. Someone I know worked with him outside of football, so I know for a fact that he's a very decent and intelligent bloke. He was completely thrown in at the deep end with management, and unfortunately it didn't work out for him. The pressure must have told. Having said that, I genuinely wonder what would have happened if Watson and Hristov hadn't got injured. Had we been in and around the top six at Christmas, it's quite likely Ashley Ward would have been in much less of a rush to leave. Ward, Hignett and Hristov up front would have looked very different to Don Goodman, Deon Burton and Mike Sheron. Though falling out with Fjortoft was an epic error.

Denis Souza was also sensational against Chelsea in the cup. Surprised he didn't get called up to the Brazil squad immediately afterwards like odejaye did for Nigeria!

Higgy's debut when we ripped Huddersfield a new one was a tantalising glimpse of what might have been with that team especially if we'd kept hold of Ward.

Think I'm right in saying that was the only game they played together for the Reds.

What a night. Once told that as MT has said Hendrie was a real joker. He was a good mimic as well.
Apparently on one away trip the team were having a meal and Hendry spotted a phone on a side table
near Sheridan or Jan Aage .JH made a noise like a phone ringing and Stumpy was asked if he could answer it.
Must have done it three times before Shez or Fjortoft twigged.
He was life and soul of the party as a player but apparently turned into Atilla the Hun when he became manager.

Agreed on hendrie, top player and a smashing bloke and as a player turned us from being a side with play off ambitions into genuine automatic promotion contenders he just wasn't cut out to be a manager unfortunately, sithi.

We were all gutted and obviously we wont ever get that chance of an Fa cup final appearance again. Tahh very much Kayodi ! :(

As for Hendrie's 1 season as manager, I look back at that time as one of the biggest missed opportunities in our clubs history. John Dennis was let down by Wilson leaving of course, but giving the job to Hendrie was a terrible idea.

Can remember loads of games where he put himself about tbh.
He could cover the length of the pitch in seconds
His ability at Champioship level I questioned myself but never his willingness.

He did have those games at Watford and Preston just after - which again begs the question - what about the rest of the time?!

Odejayi had pace, power, strength and was pretty good in the air. His main problem was, as a striker no doubt, that he was truly awful in front of goal.

I always thought Oddjob was too soft.

I can remember big soft kids at school that were really nice and would be bullied for it by much smaller kids. Eventually they would lose it and windmill a gang of bullies half to death.

Can't recall who it was against, but oddjob once showed that, and charged half the length of the field to make a challenge in front of the East Stand, earning a roar of appreciation.

He had everything going for him. Height, pace physique but lacked a mean side.

Probably went into the Chelsea dressing room after the game to apologise for knocking them out of the cup.
