Am I missing something here? Are people arguing that Moore would have the same goal return with us even though there would be no settling in period & he’d be playing alongside players like Mowatt, Brown, Woodrow, Bahre etc who he knew?

Also, we’ve only got 3 forwards who the manager trusts to start. Of them Brown didn’t play for about the first 10 games through injury, Chaplin didn’t start performing until November / December time & Woodrow missed a few games injured. Would it not have helped us to have another forward who we could trust to start games? Surely Moore would’ve been playing & doing a better job than Wilks & Thiam?

Even in January we looked a bit leggy up top with Brown & Chaplin having to start virtually every game because Schmidt wasn’t trusted to start it would’ve been great to mix it up a bit.

There’s still a strong chance that we’ll end up having to play Schmidt in crucial games as it’s a huge ask for Brown, Chaplin & Woodrow to stay fit between now & the end of the season.

If we go down this season, it won't be due to a lack of goals (we've stayed up with far worse forwards), it'll be because it took us 30-odd games to finally settle on a sturdy back line. Wasn't ideal letting Moore go but it was far worse getting rid of Pinnock.

I tend to agree, as a hold up player I suppose he was okay and a different tactical option. Let's not forget though that as a goalscorer, he needed 10 chances to score 1. I might be being a bit unkind there, but you know what I mean.

I thought it was very good money for Moore and it’s given the regular first team that we’re left with a lot more threat.
Moore was brilliant for us in league 1 and but for his injury we would have won the league. Having said that, the last time in the championship he spent all his time either missing glaring sitters at big moments in games for us or sat on his arse whining at the ref for a free kick.
I do believe that he’s worth ten goals a season at this level but we already have 2 strikers that can do that.

I would disagree personally with that, our issue this season hasn't been scoring its been defending. No doubt we would be 5 or 10 points better off if we had kept one of Lindsay or Pinnock but we have scored plenty without Kieffer.

No doubt he would have been a much better option than Schmidt

I think we would have been pinging hopeful balls up field with Moore. At least we're keeping the ball with what we've got and playing football. In a relegation battle Moore wasn't effective last time. Why would he be effective this time?

Also regarding Schmidt. He hasn't played regularly so in my view gets unfair stick. I'm sure given a run of games he'd be fine and score his share of goals too. He doesn't offer as much as Brown, Woodrow and Chaplin off the ball. That isn't his job though. I'm also sure he wasn't signed with a relegation battle in mind. I'm confident that given his chance he'd score the goals if need be.

He was signed as a striker with the purpose of scoring goals. It's up to the rest of the team when he plays to facilitate this.

Schmidt needs to Multitask Daws or he will just be collecting splinters.

    Got quite a collection already.

He's done some nice pre-match press conferences on Thursday. It makes you think he's going to be involved in some way on the Saturday then he doesn't even come off the bench.

Would he have been dire with tactics, team mates and manager he was used to?

We will never know the answer to that.
Would he have scored more goals very doubtful.

If he's signed out already, then probably best to get rid. I know we don't want to sell to a rival, but sometimes there aren't any options. Probably only relegation rivals and League 1 clubs wanting to buy. Especially after failing a medical at another club.

Kieffer or Schmidt is probably a fairer comparison.

Doubtful seeing as he was identified way before he signed, well documented that, just cos he came in after doesn’t mean there thought process was he was to replace.
It’s just as feasible they signed Chaplin(or any other player) knowing Moore was going in advance.

We were interested in Chaplin ages ago too but he signed for Coventry. At that point we already had Moore and possibly Woody. So im not sure Chaplin was Moore's replacement.
