Nobody gonna mention what a waste of money. Was it about £450k. Throwing money about doesn't always work.
His name dint sound reight in a Barnsley accent anyway. Everytime I heard sumdy mention him they had to say it two or three times
Cryne said it was nowhere near that much. Anyway, what's the alternative? Free transfers all the way?
You've just done it.. But under 500k is in our budget, so not quit the point you were hoping for.. Just a bad move for all concerned.
Exactly. However much it was, it was a gamble worth taking bearing in mind the lad's obvious natural ability. Just a massive shame he didn't manage to harness it. Let's be honest, if you saw Mellis at the top of his game, you'd have been happy to pay £450,0000 for him on ability alone. Though I'm assuming that as soon as anyone started talking to him, it was obvious that he was a complete bellend.
Like selling a used car really. Les Ferdinand said he had an attitude problem. Could be argued we've had our leg lifted by QPR but we knew what we were buying.! As someone born in the North we could have been forgiven for thinking he'd be pleased to back in this part of the Country and that the lad could have adjusted and got his head down. Apparently not. Like countless others before him he'll probably only realise what a great chance he had to forge a half decent career in the game when it's all over. Onwards and upwards. It's his loss in my opinion.
The article says Barnsley have " agreed a deal" for him to join Colchester. I wonder if that implies that we have recovered some of our original outlay.?
The plan doesn't always work. I think we paid a fraction if that to be fair. Sent from my iPad using Barnsley FC BBS Fan Forum mobile app
We can't make money off of them all. Sometimes you've to take a hit here and there. I doubt we paid that for him though. Considering the fees we paid for the likes of MacDonald, Mawson, Scowen and Hourihane who were/are established first team regulars. Sent from my WAS-LX1A using Tapatalk
I reckon it was less than that with a sell on fee if he knuckled down and fulfilled his potential qpr would have benefitted when we sold I reckon both clubs lost out as we are probably cutting our losses with a nominal fee if any
Exactly, and not every signing works for every club. Look how much villa paid in fees and wages for Hogan. Sent from my SM-G850F using Tapatalk
