If you don't mind it being a bit quiter, try the Hope Valley. Train to Sheff, then a pub each in Grindleford, Hathersage, Bamford, Hope, Edale. Great food, price of ale is a bit high but it's a lot nicer than doing a few town/city centres IMO.

    York.

Done that ale trail thing... great if you like queuing at bars. Everyone gets off the train at the same time, then trecks to the same boozer.

heard good reports about Stalybridge Ale Trail - to 'complete' the trail you have to jump over a lock?? somewhere.

(think I'd give Hebden Bridge a miss.)

Castleton is alright but it’s one of those places where the weather has to be spot on. Done it s few times with the lads and thoroughly enjoyed it.

One of the nicest places in the country IMO, lovely people fantastic pubs and some amazing beer gardens, my favourite gig venue, what is your gripe with it?

Sheffield is as good as anywhere and far less snobby than Leeds for a group of lads. West St has some cracking boozers.

What a great idea pal. I’d also like to know where you get your happy pills from too. You always seem in such a good mood :)

The ale trail is a good idea. I'd avoid York misen. I DJ over there a fair bit & tourists / racegoers & local meatheads make it a bit like Wakey.

Not sure where you go in Leeds, but the northern end (Belgrave, Headrow House, North Bar, Brunswick, Mojo is a lot better than Call lane.

Completely agree. York is massively overrated and full of the ten bob millionaire suit jacket crowd that frequent places like The Royal on a Sunday afternoon.

York's a smashing place if your going during the week, have you tried Lincoln? Some smashing real ale up top of the hill tho it's not cheap. Sheffield is a decent day out and cheap

Worth valley Steam Railway from Keighley - full bar on the train, decent pubs, not full of the usual Ale Trail mob who've ruined the Huddersfield one.

York's brilliant during the week, but I'd personally avoid it at the weekend.
