its must have been terrible for you big lil,I had cancer when I was thirty five years old and I overheard my dad saying to my mam that he wished it was him and not me, which proves the amount of pain and anguish parents go through. Its obviously been a difficult 20 years for you all, well done for keeping strong and happy birthday to your Laura.
I've never met Laura but we've had quite a bit of contact online including her interviewing me for her GCSE history project on Russia! She always comes across as a really polite, bright and articulate girl. Please wish her a good one from me.
so you are extremely proud and happy parents ..hmmm and so you should be, she is a wonder woman is Laura. As for me I feel it a total privilege to have been classed as her friend...your families friend. If anyone ever feels they have had a rough deal in life, if ever they say "why me"...then I would like to point them in Laura's direction and say "Oh Really??" There cannot be many around who have had that lot served up, and yet just shrugged it off. Awesome. But hey now let us not forget about her truly special family too, I am certain Laura would be the first to say that without you guys she may not have been as able as she has been to face the many demons that she has to date ... and slaughtered them. They say love can conquer all...you guys go a helluva way to show that. I wish Laura a wonderful birthday and hope we have many many more to come too. Her 21st is going to be MASSIVE sent with my sincere love and total humbleness to you all your friend Barry XXXX
Inspirational and moving. Makes a pleasant change to read of something uplifting and puts into perspective the side show football really is. Health, Happiness, Friends and Family are the important things in this all too short life. Some could learn from reading that. Myself included. Thank you for sharing that openly.
Thanks for that. Having a young daughter myself with a very minor health issues it helps put things in perspective to hear stories like yours when you find yourself worrying too much. Happy birthday legendary Laura.
Tell Laura I love her...tell Laura I care. Seriously, hope she has a wonderful day, a wonderful year and a wonderful life. For all the moaning, whingeing, defeatist gimps who occupy this forum, read the OP, AND FEEL ASHAMED.
Happy Birthday Laura. How time flies - it only seems like 2 minutes ago when you were fretting over her GCSEs. She's a great girl, from what I can deduce from my (brief) interactions with her and a huge credit to the Herring family. Good on yer girl.
A great many thanks and appreciation to everyone who has taken the time to make all the kind comments about Laura, as well as Crystal & myself. All of us have had a lump in our throats when we read them, especially Laura. Two obvious exceptions should've been the posts from North Yorks Red and Farnham Red. But for some reason both Laura & Crystal really like the posts! Tonight Laura is being taken out for a meal by her friends at uni and she's asked to go to an Italian. Normally she'd have chosen an Indian, but one or two of her friends don't like them, so she's made a compromise. I, on the other hand, have to make do with smoked cheese spread sandwiches! Once again, thank you to everyone.
