As regards his contract, my understanding is that Hecky was on a 12 month rolling contract before last week. He still is - except for a bit more money. So the only thing that would have changed is that maybe we'd be due bit more compo from Leeds. Another factor is that Hecky has close links with Leeds Beckett University, where he studied. A further factor is that he is at risk of getting a relegation on his CV at present. With Leeds he would have shot at promotion nxet season, if not this. Sky have just announced that last week's contract included a release clause. It looks to me like he's gone. And we'll be the poorer.
Do you reckon he's done a John Stones for us? Signed a new contract despite knowing he's leaving to get the club more money?
Anyone saying he’s not been the same since Tommy Wright was sacked are, categorically, wrong. It’s just not borne out by results pre and post The issue is simple. We replaced good players with (at the minute) inferior ones. Any new man in charge would have the same issue.
To be fair he's had the best part of about £7.5m to spend since we bought Mowatt. I dunno....football is weird, I wouldnt sack him, yet.
I thought that myself. Could be a good deal for the club if he buggers off. Especially if he turns out to be a dud at Leeds.
Sad if he goes, but this is football; statistically you’re never more than 5 feet from someone who has been/will be manager at Leeds. My worry is where this leaves the consortium and the new players brought in over the last month. They all, to varying degrees, will have bought into Hecky and his plans. Be like a ships captain getting his crew together, telling the shipping company how great the voyage is gonna be, then nipping off in a lifeboat just as they’ve left port. Second question, who’s he likely to take with him?
“IF” it was anything like £7.5m - we’ve signed something like 15 players or more! So £500k or so a player. Not really throwing the cash in the championship! He’s done the best with the hand he’s been dealt. If he goes I hope it works out for him. Not at Leeds. I hope they combust. But hope he gets a decent pay off and another job after the basket case club.
I reckon the new owners and GG are secretly quite happy about this. Realistically they could never have sacked him because that would have meant they would have got off to a bad start by basically losing the backing of the supporters.
The club may be about to lose a highly talented young English manager, born a red, and with an acute understanding of the club and the people of the town. 11 wins in 12 months is appalling form but those contributing to his job insecurity by calling for his head should now realise where they stand. Not that they have contributed to his possible leaving but perhaps that they should realise a good thing when they see it. I’m sure they will all applaud as Simon Grayson, or some 30 year old French coach takes us into league one.
When you return from a meeting and see 'Paul Heckingbottom' trending on twitter... That was awkward. Be interesting to see what's true about the rumours....
Leeds fans not happy, but would you be with those stats? Just imagining him going over to the fans after the game and doing that silly punching the air thing. Dear me!
Jump before a push springs to mind I reckon hecky is a good candidate for an assistant manager until he has learnt his trade ...I cant believe any club would come for him given his experience and result history. What has he got to offer any club.
Either that or he could go there and fall flat on his face and end up being a lower league journeyman manager. We might even start winning a few more games. Not slating him, just keeping an open mind in case he goes to the Saviles
