Completely agree. Never let himself or us down stepping from L2 to championship. With a bit of time and Hecky coaching he'll be another gem. Bobby Hassell is a similar style player in my opinion. With experience and games he was a very solid champ full back.
It's Hecky who isn't putting him in the squad not me. Yes he's done okay, I like the lad and he might develop but at the minute he's no where being a starter when everyone is fit. To be fair he was embarrassing at Bramall Lane. But he wasn't the only one.
I too thought Lindsay was excellent today, as he has been in most of the games he's played. I don't feel the need to make subjective comparisons to Roberts and Mawson and post them as if they were fact though. I enjoy(ed) the play of all three and their contributions to the past and continued achievement of the wider team. I also think that if Robbo and Liam were playing together for us, as Hecky originally intended, we'd have as strong a pairing as anyone in the division. Just my opinion, not fact. For what it's worth I can't recall Pearson letting us down defensively, the issue with him imo being he doesn't offer much going forward from full back, which is a key trait in that position these days. He has played centre-half before and given the type of team we are playing on Tuesday may be the right choice, although it seems Angus might be ok anyway. I'll leave it to Hecky.
Sounds as though Angus is going to be available for selection. Bonus is that both Gardner and Cavare could also come into the squad. The future is starting to look very promising.
Maybe that's why he played at centre half for u23s, so that Hecky could ascertain his fitness for playing CB at first team level?
Agree about Lindsay, been convinced for a while he’s the one most likely to go for good money next summer. Let’s not write Pearson off yet, only played about 10 games & I wouldn’t say he was much worse than average in many of them. I’d say he’ll improve a fair bit especially with 2 ex-full backs coaching him & then you look at his age & lack of experience at this level
From the bits and bobs I've seen, Pearson looks very raw, but luckily we've got enough depth in defence that he can be dipped in and out of the side while he gets up to speed. To put things into perspective, I think he's looked more ready at this level than Jackson did a year ago. I was at the Forest game almost exactly 12 months ago, and Jackson came close to giving me a coronary every time the ball went anywhere near him. I didn't for the life of me think that he would ever be good enough to be a regular Championship defender, but obviously our scouting team did. They were right, and I was wrong. They must also believe the same about Pearson, and judging by their success rate, do we have any reasons to doubt them?
