I've been one of Patrick Crynes biggest critics - which has basically surrounded players contracts.

However, I have always said that if ever there was a statue built outside Oakwell then that statue should be of Patrick Cryne.
He saved Barnsley Football Club in its darkest hour and for this alone we will forever be in his debt.

Today's Barnsley Chronicle reports that Patrick is terminally ill.
I would like to say that I hope he lives for many years to come and I wish him and his family best wishes.
Our love and prayers are with you.

Well said. Very sad news indeed.

I suppose the only thing to cling to, for him and his family, is the fact that medical opinion is sometimes wrong. People given a specific time to live - weeks, months or years - have been known to survive much, much longer.

I believe that Patrick is in his 60s so let's hope he makes it to 70, and beyond.
