Apparently, Labour issued an ultimatum for Dan to confirm his intentions by 17:00 yesterday. The implied threat seems to be that they would seek to overturn his candidacy should he fail to indicate his intention to stand down as MP if elected mayor. That, despite his position being made known to South Yorkshire Labour Party members in advance. The scurrilous rule change half way through the nomination election demonstrates that the professed support for democratic processes applies only when it suits the lunatics who now control the asylum. Should it become necessary for Dan to stand on an independent platform for either the mayoral or (in due course) the parliamentary vacancy, I hope people will support him on a matter of principle.
You are far less likely to be shot at as a manager in an Aldi store! On the other hand, as a manager in a US branch of Walmart ........
Can't remember where this old quote comes from.... " A conservative is someone who sits and thinks. Mostly sits!"
Under normal circumstances I might agree. However, this is an interim position only and needs to be treated as such with the support staff structured accordingly.
No problem with Dan. Needs to listen to the people in the Labour Party & his constituents. If he does those two, he'll be OK.
That’s the plan but unless Javid changes his mind it will be long term and there’s no guarantee of that.
My fear is that if anyone else gets the job we can forget "One Yorkshire". I am in favour of Dan getting it for this reason as I think he will make sure that we move towards that.
Corbyn asked in the House of Commons that they send a sample to the Russians. The government is refusing to do so. I wonder why ?
