Watched Man Utd a few times this season & despite the huge difference in budget there’s an obvious comparison between us & them in that we’ve both sold our only forward with any kind of physical presence & are left with a group of forwards with pace who all look like they need a target man to play off. Hearing Gary Neville moan about the lack of attacking options off the bench reminded me of me & my mates & a lot of reds fans on social media & this place. Another similarity is they pulled off a great win over Chelsea on the opening day like we did against Fulham that seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Anyway, at least we aren’t the only ones daft enough to flog our main striker & not replace him.
I’ve watched them a few times too. Pi$$ed myself everytime. Please don’t compare the clubs again tho I don’t wanna be associated with that lot.
Both have fan bases that travel from all over the place. Man Utd - London, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Ireland. Barnsley - Athersley, wombwell, darfield, goldthorpe, penistone.
I’ve recently considered us similar to Southampton to be honest, we’re just a smaller version. > Develop some good players and managers and then get them all poached for good money. > Great academy set up and money invested in the right areas. > Some seasons they struggle due to loss of players/managers. > Take a punt on unknown English and Foreign players and see if they can develop them. Southampton do a cracking job to be fair. And whilst the fans might get frustrated at times, it’s a long way away since their old Dell days and also the close to administration days.
